U.S. Rep. DEMOCRAT Laura Richardson – 6 time loan defaulter now subject to ethics investigations
U.S. Rep. Democrat Laura Richardson from California bought the house in the tree-lined upper-middle-class Curtis Park neighborhood for $535,000 in early 2007 after she was elected to the Assembly. She already owned two houses, one in her Long Beach district and the other in San Pedro. She has defaulted six times on both homes. You will noticed from the L.A. Times story summary bellow that they somehow leave out the fact of her party affiliation:
U.S. Rep. Laura Richardson’s rundown Sacramento house, which became the scourge of the neighborhood and a sore point with an investor who thought he had bought it out of foreclosure, has drawn the interest of a House ethics panel.
The Office of Congressional Ethics contacted real estate investor James York, who bought Richardson’s house at a foreclosure auction last year, only to have Washington Mutual take it back after he had recorded the deed and return the house to the congresswoman.
California budget deal announced – good and bad news
California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and legislative leaders have agreed on a compromise plan to close the state’s $23.6 billion budget gap. The good news? No new taxes, off shore oil drilling off the Santa Barbara coast, and welfare cuts! The bad news? inmates in state prisons will be released early and state employees to continue taking unpaid days off.
California’s Proposition 8 upheld but…….
The California Supreme Court today upheld the gay marriage ban constitutional amendment aka Proposition 8 in California, voted on last November. In a 6-1 split decision, Gays married before the ban stay married, but no more gay marriage in the state FOR NOW. You can read the court’s decision from this PDF document. How, this decision basically guarantee’s another fight at the ballot box. and you will probably see another proposition on the ballot for gay marriage around the time of the mid-term elections next year. And now the San Fransico Chronicle is urging its readers to “protest” via cell phones.
No bailout for California – at least not yet
On its way to Bankruptcy come July, Obama Administration officials say the state can do more to solve the budget crisis on its own, they don’t have the authority to help — and if they did, it would set a dangerous precedent. I’m all for that! Let the state go BK, and let all these entitlement programs like welfare for illegals die. But irony yet again from the Obama administration. it would set a dangerous precedent
You mean like the bank bailouts? You mean like the insurance company bailouts? You mean like NATIONALIZING the auto industry?
Maybe Arnold Shriver needs to “pump up” Obama a little more.
California on the verge of collapse – Could be out of money by July – all this and now Hussein Obama is threatening to pull the state’s $6.8 billion in stimulus funds to PROTECT THE UNIONS!
With the unemployment rate in the US now at a 26 year high at 8.9%, and various liberal biased newspapers/sites like Politico and the New York Times saying “Employment is doing well”, the country’s largest economy, Despite the budget fix enacted in February, the state is on track to come up $23 billion short of what it needs to get through the year, the Legislature’s chief budget analyst says.
