Democrats lied, transparency died – Hoyer’s remarks on health care not to be debated

From Michelle Malkin:

(WASHINGTON, DC) – In an astonishing acceleration of the stifling of debate and transparency in the House, Democrats tonight voted to adjourn and gag the planned special orders speeches of U.S. Representatives John Carter (R-TX) and Steve King (R-IA).

Carter and King had announced they would discuss Democrat Majority Leader Steny Hoyer’s (D-MD) statement that the upcoming health care reform effort would fail if Members were required to read the legislation. House Democrats accordingly silenced floor debate on the issue by voting to close early.

“The Democrats are the majority – for now,” says Carter, House Republican Conference Secretary. “They chose to silence debate on the floor by gagging House Republican Members from using their historical right to speak after the close of the day. But they cannot stop us from speaking and letting the American public know the truth about their ongoing assault against representative democracy.”

And so it begins… FCC crackdown on ‘racist radio’ Welcome to Venezuela

There are ways to get results much like what the Fairness Doctorine would provide, without actually passing a Fairness Doctorine. The FCC has taken an official step toward eliminating the electronic ratings system that are considered “racist”. According to Radio Equalizer:

Arbitron’s Portable People Meter (PPM) provides the first truly accurate system for measuring radio listening. Because it is passive, rather than requiring a diary to be manually maintained, opportunities for cheating have virtually been eliminated.

So now, the Obama controlled FCC is putting pressure on the government to make Arbitron change its measurement tools to ensure PC results, according to Michelle Malkin.

New York Times finally comes out of the closet – admits to killing big Obama/Acorn story before election day

Maureen Dowd is not involved in this incident. There is no plagiarizing involved, just more liberal media hypocrisy and censorship. As if anyone with a brain, or at least anyone who isn’t some far left wing loon knew all along. The, the New York Times has gone on record to admit that they killed a politically sensitive news story involving corruption allegations that might have made the Obama campaign look bad. that just before last Election Day, regarding Obama and ACORN. According to the American Spectator, this admission, which came seven months after NYT staff reporter Stephanie Strom’s reporting about possibly illegal coordination between the Obama campaign and ACORN last year, took the form of a snarky column from Clark Hoyt, the Old Gray Lady’s “public editor.” Hoyt used the word “nonsense” to describe the allegations of impropriety leveled against ACORN and the Obama campaign.

Judicial Watch Uncovers New FCC Documents on Fairness Doctrine Debate

Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it has obtained documents from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) concerning the “Fairness Doctrine,” a policy abolished in 1987, and other governmental means to limit free speech in the media. Judicial Watch obtained the documents in response to a December 2008 Freedom of Information Act request. More from JW:

National Organization for Marriage vows to fight back against Perez Hilton’s “bogus copyright claims”

Simon Owens sent me an e-mail mentioning how he got a chance to speak to National Organization for Marriage Director Brian Brown about how his group plans on fighting back against Perez’s DMCA takedown notices. The gossip blogger Perez Hilton, aka Mario Armando Lavandeira sent DMCA takedown notices for a YouTube video because it shows three seconds from his video blog. But does the ad constitute fair use?

Michael Savage BANNED FROM U.K.! Will Sue the Brits

I’m starting to wonder if Hussein Obama’s treatment of Gordon Brown and the Queen was really such a bad thing after all? I suppose, the Obamunists got the Brits to go after Savage and put him on a list filled with murderers and terrorists. Jeremiah Wright is not on the list, nor is a panoply of other hate-mongers from the Left, from Garofalo to Ron Howard, the Catholic-bashing movie maker or Bill Ayers. I ain’t a big fan of the Savage myself, but anytime someone is banned it is bad for freedom of expression and speech, I mean WTF is this? Iran? Can we ban some Brits now? We can start with Russell Brand.

The debut of the ‘NEW’ Fairness Doctorine – coming to a radio station near you!

Coming soon to a radio station near you, the ‘NEW’ “Fairness” Doctrines”, called “media diversity”. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has released the names of the thirty-one members of their Advisory Committee On Diversity For Communications In The Digital Age. According to NewsBusters, this May 7 gathering is made up of a laundry list of left-wing grievance groups, with a smattering of radio and television companies included to break up the monotony.

The road to censorship – DeMint bill passes 87-11. The bad news? so does Durbin’s

From Sen. Jim DeMint’s office:

Today, at 2pm, the Senate will vote on two amendments with respect to the Fairness Doctrine.

- The DeMint amendment (Broadcaster Freedom Act) would ban the Fairness Doctrine.

- The amendment by Senator Dick Durbin (D-Illinois) would achieve the same goals of the Fairness Doctrine through backdoor FCC regulations. His legislation forces the FCC to “take actions to encourage and promote diversity in communication media ownership,” an attempt to dismantle successful syndicated radio programs. The Durbin amendment would hurt small, local radio stations who depend on popular syndicated programming for listeners and revenue.

Here’s an article that seems to get at what Durbin’s amendment is about.

Senator DeMint will encourage all senators to OPPOSE the Durbin Amendment.

The Duct Tape Brigade is out there in full force.

Eternal vigilance is required.

***

Update 1:30pm Eastern. The DeMint amendment passes 87-11, but as Sen. DeMint Tweets: “Our ban on Fairness Doctrine passes 87-11. But fight not over, Dems have attacked from back door on media ownership, localism.”

More from The Hill.

Durbin’s measure passed 57-41.

Here are the rolls for DeMint’s and Durbin’s bills; the latter, unsurprisingly, was party-line. Durbin himself voted for DeMint’s amendment, as did Debbie Stabenow — who, you’ll recall, was calling for hearings on bringing back Fairness as recently as three weeks ago.

Sen. Jim DeMint to force whiny Democrats hand on Fairness Doctorine

Sen. Jim DeMint announced that he will force a vote next week on a bill that prevents the Federal Communications Commission from reinstating the Fairness Doctrine.

The South Carolina Republican’s bill, the Broadcaster Freedom Act, is cosponsored by John Thune, R-S.D., and 27 others and will be offered as an amendment to the D.C. Voting Rights bill…

Sen. DeMint stated: “I’m glad President Obama finally confirmed his opposition to the Fairness Doctrine, which attacks the right of free speech on talk radio, but many Democrats in Congress are still pushing it.

“With the support of the new administration, now is the time for Congress to take a stand against this kind of censorship. I intend to seek a vote on this amendment next week so every senator is on record: Do you support free speech or do you want to silence voices you disagree with?”

Camille Paglia (democrat) actually speaks the truth about the censorship, err Fairness Doctrine

Ever been to one of those Brazilian restaurants where they bring out plate after plate of nothing but red meat? Steaks, chops, sausages — all you can eat, until you’re glassy-eyed from the sheer red-meatiness of it all. This clip is that restaurant.

Now Bill Clinton wants the censorship, err Fairness Doctorine! Wheres Monica when we need her?

hillary-bill-clinton.jpgYet another figment of your overactive wingnut imagination. I always wondered if that Inhofe story about Hillary and Barbara Boxer kibbitzing about Fairness was true. Hmmmmm. Exit question: If Billy Jeff is so concerned about this, why didn’t he push it circa 1993? Click the image to listen.

Guess what? Another democrats cries that we need that “Fairness Doctorine”. This time its Tom Harkin or Iowa!

Debbie Stabenow may now be backing away from the Fairness Doctrine, but another progressive Senator has taken her place. Tom Harkin (D-IA) tells Bill Press that he wants the federal government to open markets for the liberal talker that Press can’t get on his own:

But on the brighter side, Jeff Sessions tells Mark Levin: “Darned right we’ll filibuster the Fairness Doctrine”. WELL DUH! You’d better!

Censorship in Chief – An Iowa State trooper investigated for forwarding an e-mails showing mug shots of people wearing Obama t-shirts!

Imagine if you will, during the last 8 years, if a state trooper, or anyone e-mailed mug shots of people wearing dubya shirts mocking George Bush and Republicans on his own time and on his own computer. Do you think the ACLU would care, or get involved in getting that person suspended for 30 days? Welcome to life in the B. Hussein Obama administration:

An Iowa State trooper who was investigated after it was shown that he forwarded an e-mail showing mug shots of people wearing Obama t-shirts has been suspended for 30 days.

Sgt. Rodney Hicok was at home and off-duty when he forwarded the e-mails, said an official with the Iowa Department of Public Safety Bureau and Professional Standards.

The e-mail made disparaging remarks about 15 people in the photos and referred to Obama as having “quite a fan base.”

Hicok was not making a racial statement, the official said, but, rather, a political statement.

In a statement, Hicok said, “I am deeply sorry for my actions … I apologize to anyone this e-mail may have offended, as well as my family, citizens in my community and Iowa taxpayers.”

Hicok ended his statement by saying he guaranteed “nothing like this will ever happen again.”

Senator Debbie Stabenow, wife of prostitute paying Thomas Athans wants the Fairness Doctorine

This morning, radio host Bill Press brought up the recent closing of liberal station Obama 1260 when speaking with Michigan Sen. Debbie Stabenow, and talked about whether there needs to be a balance to right-wing talk on the radio dial.

BILL PRESS: Yeah, I mean, look: They have a right to say that. They’ve got a right to express that. But, they should not be the only voices heard. So, is it time to bring back the Fairness Doctrine?

SENATOR DEBBIE STABENOW (D-MI): I think it’s absolutely time to pass a standard. Now, whether it’s called the Fairness Standard, whether it’s called something else — I absolutely think it’s time to be bringing accountability to the airwaves. I mean, our new president has talked rightly about accountability and transparency. You know, that we all have to step up and be responsible. And, I think in this case, there needs to be some accountability and standards put in place.

BILL PRESS: Can we count on you to push for some hearings in the United States Senate this year, to bring these owners in and hold them accountable?

SENATOR DEBBIE STABENOW (D-MI): I have already had some discussions with colleagues and, you know, I feel like that’s gonna happen. Yep

You didn’t know her husband Thomas Athans?

Back in April of 2008, police were investigating an Internet-based prostitution ring when they stopped Stabenow’s husband, Thomas Athans, whom police believed had just met a prostitute at a hotel and paid to have sex with her, according to The Detroit News. Athans admitted to paying the 20-year-old woman $150 to perform oral sex on him.

BTW, heres another fun little game

then do the same with cnn: site:http://www.cnn.com/ debbie stabenow’s husband

If it were a Repubican Senator’s husband (or Sarah Palin’s SO) don’t you think CNN would be all over it like white on rice? Eh libs? Not very balanced on CNNs part.

Try and hold your surprise, as Bob Owens notes that YouTube is censoring content on the Israeli Defense Forces video channel.

YouTube didn’t earn the AllahTube and DhimmiTube nicknames for nothing!
