“Cold Cash” Louisiana Democrat William Jefferson sentenced to 13 years in prison
The man who lost to Ahn “Joseph” Cao last fall in the congress elections, William Jefferson who is famous for being found with $90,000+ in his freezer is going to the slammer for 13 years. Prosecutor described this as “the most extensive and pervasive pattern of corruption in the history of Congress.” They obviously haven’t looked much into the rest of Congress then. Judge T.S. Ellis III went soft on Cold Cash Jefferson though, the amount of time behind bars was recommeneded by the government to be between 27 and 33 years, still it is by the far the stiffest jail term ever imposed on a member or former member of Congress for crimes committed while in office. I’m hoping more of the current corrupt members get sent to trial and well surpass cold cash Jefferson’s total years. NOLA has more:
Jim DeMint tries to ban ‘permanent politicians’ proposes constitution amendment to limit congressional terms
Good luck getting any votes Jim other than yourself (from either side). The South Carolina Republican – hearkening back to the days of the party’s “Contract with America” – on Tuesday offered a fix to the corrupting influence of “permanent politicians,” introducing an amendment to the Constitution that would limit Senate members to three six-year terms and House members to three two-year terms. The Washington Times has the story:
“As long as members have the chance to spend their lives in Washington, their interests will always skew toward spending taxpayer dollars to buy off special interests, covering over corruption in the bureaucracy, fundraising, relationship building among lobbyists, and trading favors for pork – in short, amassing their own power,” said Mr. DeMint, who is running for a second term next year.
Senate leaders and longtime Washington watchdogs said Mr. DeMint’s bill had a zero chance of becoming law, mostly because of a general lack of interest and the high hurdles to amending the Constitution.
“It’s a great issue to talk about, but it’s not going to happen,” said Sen. Richard J. Durbin of Illinois, the Democratic majority’s second-highest ranking leader.
Mr. Durbin said he didn’t know whether the bill would even get a vote.
Term limits have not been a cause celebre on Capitol Hill since the issue featured prominently in the “Contract with America” that helped the Republican Party win control of Congress in 1994. House Republicans brought three versions of constitutional amendments for term limits to the floor in 1995 and each failed to win the two-thirds majority needed to pass.
Melanie Sloan, executive director of the watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), disagrees with Mr. DeMint’s premise that politicians get more corrupt the longer they serve.
“There are plenty of bad members who have been there a short time and plenty of bad members who have been there a long time,” she said. “Length of service just isn’t telling enough. It doesn’t make a great member or a terrible member.”

Boca Raton House rep Robert Wexler to step down
The liberal toilet flush of 2010 begins early, as Robert Wexler, rep from Boca Raton Florida who needed to use his in-laws’ address to establish his Florida residency will step down on Wedneday. According to the Miami Herald, Wexler said he will become director of the Washington-based Center for Middle East Peace and Economic Cooperation. Wexler, 48, is expected to make a public statement about his plans at a 10 a.m (EDT), Wednesday press conference at his Boca Raton office.

After Kennedy rushed to get the state senate to change the state law changed in 2004 to require a ’special election’ to fill a vacated Senate seat (should John Kerry have won the Presidency), the libtard state has once again flip-flopped and approved a bill, again begged for by Ted Kennedy before he died to change the law back so that a “temporary” replacement until the special election for the Senate seat can be held. But according to the newest Rasmussen poll, none of these professions compare to being least respected in America to a member of Congress. 72% of those polled rated Congress as unfavorable, while 25% polled rated the job as favorable. At least 23 house democrats have already said they will NOT vote for ObamaCARE
Slip slipin’ away. According to the The Hill, at least 23 House Democrats already have told constituents or hometown media that they oppose the massive healthcare overhaul aka ObamaCARE. Of course, this is what they say. Democrats (or Republicans for that matter) should hardly be taken at face value, as they have proven to be nothing but liars and corruptocrats. Speaking with City Hall Magazine, the Democratic lawmaker relayed a story about a phone call she received from someone attacking Senator Kirsten Gillibrand for supporting English-only education in Puerto Rico. Maloney said the person told her that having that position was like saying the N word to a Puerto Rican. In a statement, Maloney calls the slur disgusting, and says she was only quoting someone else who said it. Maloney is expected to announce soon that she will challenge Gillibrand in a Democratic primary next year.
