According to her website, U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords will step down from Congress this week to focus on her recovery from a gunshot wound from last year’s Jared Lee Loughner shooting rampage in Tucson.

If there’s one Democrat I don’t mind seeing win next year, it’s Gabby Giffords. In fact, she is the only Democrat I could ever be happy seeing win an election. After all the pain, rehab and surgeries she’s been through, how can you not root for her? Even before left wing terrorist Jared Lee Loughner shot her in January, she was considered a “blue dog Democrat” and was hated by most progressives because of her stance mainly on border security. According to The Hill, Giffords intends to run again next year for Congress. In her new book entitled Gabby: A Story of Courage and Hope, she vowed to return.

Forget the fact that there still haven’t been any videos or actual pictures of Gabby Giffords and her recovery, just get her to run for the Jon Kyl’s Senate seat next year! Giffords is also describe as speaking “more and more” which is great news.

When they learned that Giffords was alive but in critical condition, the topic turned to blame Sarah Palin, the tea party, Rush Limbaugh, etc. Lost in all the progressive liberal biased coverage was how Gabby Giffords was recovering. Obama said during the memorial that when he, and other Democrat Reps entered her room, she opened her eyes for the first time. Today, The Hill reports, that Giffords has been taken off the respirator, and continues to improve. Though she is still in critical condition, her recovery has been somewhat miraculous.

Gabrielle Giffords continues her steady improvements. Gabby Giffords has improved to the point where not only did she open her eyes for the first time last night, but she is also communicating with family members! Not verbally of course, but with her hands. From the L.A. Times:
“Her family has asked her very specific things, and she has used her hand to communicate with them,” said Dr. Michael Lemole, a neurosurgeon at Tucson’s University Medical Center and one of the surgeons who operated on Giffords after she was shot in the head Saturday morning. That implies that she has a good amount of cognitive functioning.
Dr. Lemole even acknowledged that:
“we are wise to acknowledge miracles.”
