For the first time since Reconstruction Louisiana Republicans control the state legislature as former Democrat Walker Hines switches parties

rnc-logoState Democrats in Louisiana are jumping the sinking ship too! Walter Hines, a 26 year old member of the Louisiana state legislation has switched parties from Democrat to Republican. Hines is only 26 and obviously knows that if he wants to prolong his political future, he’d better jump off the sinking ship. With Hines party switch, this gives Republicans the majority in the Louisiana state House. Why is this significant? Because (according to American Thinker) this is the first time since the end of Reconstruction that the Louisiana Democratic Party will no longer control the state legislature. Walker Hines (District 95-New Orleans) who announced he is switching parties issued the following statement (via Dead Pelican):

Another record! Obama sets modern day record midterm House seat loses!

Drum-roll please!

Obama has set yet another record! According to RedState, in the last 60 years of midterm election loses, Obama has absolutely shattered the the previous records for his own party’s losses. While there are still anywhere from 8 to 10 seats still undecided at this point, CNN is projecting that after the final set of seats are decided, Republicans will have gained a total of 65 seats in the 2010 midterms. If the CNN projections are correct, this would give Republicans 243 seats and Democrats only 192.

Soon to chairman of the House Rules Committee David Dreier orders video cameras to be installed in the hearing room

I can see transparency from my house! What Obama claimed would be a hallmark of his reign of terror (transparency) is coming. Not from Obama or the Marxist Democrats still remaining after the landslide election, but from te Republicans who destroyed the Marxists in the past election. According The Blaze, David Dreier, a Republican congressman from of all places, California has sent a letter addressed to the House chief administrative officer Dan Strodel, ordering that video cameras be installed in the hearing room so citizens can keep an eye on Congress.

Ten House races still undecided

As it currently stands at the time of this post, the GOP has gained a total of 61 House of Representive seats, giving them a total of 240 seats. The 112th Congress will be the the first time since 1948 that Democrats have fewer than 200 seats. There are still ten seats that haven’t had declared winners yet.  Of the ten seats, four of them show Republicans leading. Assuming they win those, that would give the GOP a 65 seat gain. Of course with the voter fraud and corruption by progressive liberal Democrats, don’t be surprised if any of these seats suddenly find a massive amount of late Democrat votes. Jim Geraghty of National Review Online has a summary of the remaining ten seats, and where they stand at this time:

More on “the wave” – GOP picked up 680 seats in state legislatures

rnc-logoNot only did the GOP take over the House with over 60 seats (10 are still too close to call), and make significant gains in the Senate, Republicans also completely destroyed the Marxist Democrats in state legislatures races. According to Hotline On Call, Republicans picked up 680 seats in state legislatures, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures — the most in the modern era. In the 1994 GOP “wave”, Republicans picked up “only” 472 seats. The 680 seat pick up by Republicans destroyed the previous high which was in 1974 after Watergate when Democrats gained 628 seats!

Generic Congressional Ballot: Republicans 48%, Democrats 39%

rnc-logoMore bad news from the progressive liberal Democrats. According to the latest Rasmussen Generic Congressional Ballot, Forty-eight percent (48%) of respondents say they would vote for their district’s Republican congressional candidate, while only 39% would vote for a Democrat. Yet even more bad news for Democrats according to this poll is that voters who are most closely following the midterm elections Republicans hold a 55% to 36% lead.

The new Contract with America from the GOP: “a Pledge to America”

rnc-logoThis was supposed to be released yesterday, but CBS got the full 21 page text of the so called “a Pledge to America”. Like the Contract with America in 1994, the GOP hopes this helps persuade voters that they are no longer the Democrat Light party. The highlights of the pledge include:

Contract with America 2.0? House GOP to unveil it’s agenda for the new Congress on Thursday September 23 2010

Personally, I’m not really getting my hopes up. I just don’t think this group of suddenly conservative Republicans will have a enough narrative like they did in 1994. I’m hoping they prove me wrong though. The new “Contract with America” will be unveiled in Sterling, VA on Thursday. NBC (of all networks) was alerted to this by current House Minority Leader and the next Speaker of the House John Boehner’s office.

Arrogant washed up Alaska Republican Lisa Murkowski will run for Senate re-election as a write-in candidate

These arrogant establishment politicians just don’t get it do they? Hotline on Call has announced that murky Murkowski will run for re-election as a write-in candidate after losing her bid for renomination in the GOP primary to Joe Miller. Hotline On Call got their information from sources briefed on Murkowski’s decision. Maybe Mike Castle will pull the same BS? Murkowski was at first classy about the loss to Joe Miller. She conceded, and did not demand a re-off that would have been requested under Alaska law. Now, she’s going the typical, GOP establishment route. Can’t take the fact the people didn’t want here, so she has to throw a tantrum and run in a 3-way race.

Cook political report: Republicans now LIKELY to retake the House

rnc-logoCharlie Cook who is remarkably accurate when predicting political outcomes of elections has updated his “Cook Political Report” to say that Republicans are now LIKELY to re-take the House this coming November. For the first time in Cook’s internal race-by-race model estimates, it shows a GOP gain of over 40 seats. With this, Cook has revising his House forecast to a Republican gain of at least 40 seats. The 40 seats is the minimum to give the Republicans the majority status. The 40 seats is a MINIMUM prediction though. Cook mentions it’s very possible that Republicans take substantially more seats than the 40 needed for majority.

Dick Morris explains how Republicans will win the Senate

I’d like to believe Dick Morris’ prediction that the GOP will not only win the House, but the Senate as well. But winning the Senate is like catching lightning in a bottle. I suppose it’s possible. It happened in 2008 for the progressive marxist party with the Senate, House and Presidency. I’m just not as optimistic as Morris is when it comes to the Senate.  While Senate seat pickups are basically guaranteed for the GOP in North Dakota, Arkansas, Indiana, and Delaware (if RINO Mike Castle wins the primary), other seat gains are going to be difficult. Colorado and Pennsylvania have a good chance of flipping to Republicans, giving them six. Nevada which was once a shoe in to flip is now going to be tough, as is California, Wisconsin, and Washington state. Illinois is another one that will be tough. You basically have two lousy candidates running on each side. You have RINO and liar Mark Kirk for the Republicans and mob boss Giannoulias running for the marxist party. Here’s what Morris says:

Meg Whitman up by 8 points over Jerry Brown for California Governor

rnc-logoIt’s not like Meg Whitman is going to be the next Ronald Reagan as Governor of California. She may actually end up more like Arnold if she wins. But situation is again about the lesser of the two evils. Jerry Brown is a fraud, a failed progressive liberal Democrat governor from the 1970s. Whitman who trailed Brown by 2 points in a Rasmussen poll earlier in August, now leads Brown by 8 points at 48% to 40% according to the latest poll. In the land of fruits of nuts of California, this is certainly stunning, but remember Whitman has been spending like a Democrat on her campaign ads against Brown too.

Could Joe Miller possibly win the Alaska GOP Primary over RINO Lisa Murkowski?

Update: with 100% of the precincts reporting, Joe Miller leads Murkowski by 1,668 votes! About 15,000 absentee ballots remain. Final tally for absentee ballots occurs on September 8.

joe-miller-us-senate-alaskaWell I guess I didn’t miss the declaration of the official winner while I slept last night. (And to think, I considered staying up an extra hour or two to follow this). With 97.9 % of the vote counted, Joe Miller still holds a lead over RINO Lisa Murkowski. Joe Miller currently has 45,909 of the vote for 51.09% of the total. RINO Lisaa Murkowski has 43,949 and 48.91% of the vote. The hold up appears to be the absentee ballots that are still out and wouldn’t be counted until August 31st. It’s looking more and more like Murkowski should call up Al Franken’s “recount” lawyers for help.

Linda McMahon wins Connecticut GOP convention endorsement for Senate

rnc-logoThe Democrats endorsed a fake Vietnam Veteran running Senate, the GOP has endorsed former CEO of the fake sport/entertainment of the World Wrestling Entertainment. While I would like to see Peter Schiff win Connecticut Senate seat, I also realize that McMahon has the best chance of beating the fake Vietnam Veteran Richard Blumenthal. McMahon who will now likely win the GOP primary in August will get my full support.

Herman Cain’s SRLC Speech

rnc-logoPossibly the best speech of the entire SRLC depending on your point of view, it was definitely my favorite. Here is Herman Cain’s SRLC speech. BTW, did I mention I love Viddler? You don’t have to break videos into 10 minute clips and 1 video can contain the entire speech. Imagine that Youtube! The Right Scoop yet again provides the video (via Viddler). They say Herman Cain is going to run in 2012 for President. Spoiler: Cain tells us that at the end in the form of a hint, but Right Scoop thinks he just announced his candidacy.

Full Speech: Rick Perry at SRLC

rnc-logoProbably the best speech at the SRLC for Friday April 9th was Rick Perry (unless you liked Sarah Palin’s better).
