Super Tuesday Virginia GOP primary poll: Romney 68%, Ron Paul 19% (Santorum and Gingrich not on ballot)

This is about as expected as you can get without Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum on the ballot. In Virginia, a Super Tuesday primary state, Mitt Romney smashes Ron Paul 68% to 19%. 13% are still undecided. The Quinnipiac University poll surveyed 1,544 registered voters.

If Mittens continues to plunge like after last night’s losses in Colorado and Minnesota, these numbers might actually get a little closer, but I doubt Paul will catch Romney in Virginia.

This is of course coming from the same Mittwit that passed RomneyCare in Massachusetts, and ran to the left of Ted Kennedy in the 1990s for a senate seat.

Even though Mitt Romney barely cracked 50% of the GOP vote in Nevada getting 14 delegates, Newt Gingrich came in second with six delegate without even campaigning or wasting much money in the state. Ron Paul got 5 delegates with 19% of the vote and Rick Santorum who also didn’t spend much time or money in Nevada ended up with 3 delegates. Now it’s on to Tuesday. Colorado is expected to go for Mittens. Minnesota and Missouri had Rick Santorum leading in the latest polls.

Newt Gingrich won one county in Nevada, called Mineral. Ron Paul won two counties, Nye and Esmeralda.

Funny. I’ve never heard any media hacks like John King refer to Harry Reid as Senator Mormon. I’ve never heard John King refer to Keith Ellison as Congressman Muslim. Mediaite captured John Kings freudian slip. Maybe Rush Limbaugh should call Obama President Kenyan or something. Think there would be any outrage?

PPP poll: Mittens up fourteen in Colorado, Santorum up two in Minnesota

The establishment assumption is that February is going to be an easy month for Mittens. He’s started out winning Nevada, leads big in Michigan and Arizona and I would assume win next weekend’s Maine caucus since it’s in that Northeast region. But a PPP poll released today shows Mittens losing to Rick Santorum in Minnesota (on Tuesday) by two points. Mittens is beating Santorum by fourteen points in Colorado which is also on Tuesday. Santorum is also leading the Missouri primary which is nothing more than a beauty contest as no delegates are awarded. Both Colorado and Minnesota are caucuses, so expect Ron Paul to over-perform in these.

In Colorado Mitt Romney looks primed for another big Western win to match his one in Nevada. He leads with 40% there to 26% for Rick Santorum, 18% for Gingrich, and 12% for Ron Paul.

Minnesota looks like a toss up with any of the four candidates having some shot at winning. Santorum holds a small edge there with 29% to 27% for Romney, 22% for Gingrich, and 19% for Paul.

Tuesday has the potential to be a big day for Rick Santorum. In addition to these two polls, a Missouri survey we conducted last weekend found him with 45% to 34% for Romney and 13% for Paul.

This was one of the more passionate speeches I’ve seen from Mittens, and actually thought it was pretty good. I just wish I could believe it. No surprise. Mittens has won the Nevada GOP caucus. The only drama of the night is who comes in second place, and if Mittens can crack 50% of the state. Voter turnout is down a lot from 2008. Really gives you confidence in “Mr. Electable” Mitt Romney huh?

The battle for second place is between Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich. Rick Santorum will finish i distant fourth tonight.

Last night the rumors about Donald Trump’s “major announcement” today was about an endorsement for Newt Gingrich. Many sites reported on it, But late last night, the Drudge Report which has obviously been in the tank for Mitt Romney since this campaign cycle began started dropping hints that “The Donald” was going to endorse Mitt Romney, not Newt Gingrich. Well, they were right. Donald Trump endorsed Mitt Romney in an afternoon press conference in Las Vegas. Not like anyone really cares what Trump thinks, or anyone endorses. This is no game changer. But Trump might start pumping money over to Romney’s SuperPac to offset the Adelsons sending Gingrich’s Super Pac $10 million.

Rasmussen Michigan GOP Primary poll: Romney 38%, Gingrich 23%, Santorum 17%, Paul 14%

This poll is less of a surprise to me than the one in Arizona. Since Mittens was born in Detroit, I figured he’d win this state in it’s GOP primary. According to Rasmussen, Mittens leads Newt Gingrich by 15% in Michigan. Their primary is on the same day as Arizona’s (February 28th.) Of course, these polls have flip flipped like Mitt Romney in this election cycle, so neither Arizona or Michigan is set in stone.

Romney earns 38% support from Likely Republican Primary Voters in Michigan, with former House Speaker Newt Gingrich a distant second with 23% of the vote. Seventeen percent (17%) prefer former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum, and nearly as many (14%) favor Texas Congressman Ron Paul. One percent (1%) like some other candidate in the race, and six percent (6%) are undecided.

This is kind of a surprise for me. I was always under the assumption that Arizona was more of a conservative state than this. Of course, their two RINO Senators John McCain and Jon Kyl aren’t exactly known for their conservatism, so maybe this poll makes more sense than I realize. The latest Rasmussen poll shows Mittens ahead of Newt Gingrich by 24 points for the Arizona primary which is at the end of February. Things can obviously change between now and then, but this is a bit disheartening.

Look, I understand why SOME may want Mittens to be the GOP nominee. Some may actually believe the fact he’s a “moderate” GOP candidate can beat Obama because the media wouldn’t’ be able to portray him as some far right zealot. I don’t buy it, but I get that’s what some people may think. But this blind cheerleading for Romney has really started to puzzle me. Ann Coulter used to cream herself over the thought Chris Christie was going to run for the GOP nomination. Now she’s on the Romney bandwagon because I think if he gets the nominee he’s going to take Christie as his running mate. But Ann Coulter is really starting to concern me with her crazyiness over Mittens. She almost sounds like one of the lame stream media hacks did in 2008 when Obama ran. While I would vote for a box of rocks over Obama come November, I don’t get “excited” by Mittens being the nominee. Of course, none of the current crop is all that great or exciting either.

There’s no obvious constitutional difference between a state forcing militia-age males to equip themselves with guns and a state forcing adults in today’s world to equip themselves with health insurance.

The hyperventilating over government-mandated health insurance confuses a legal argument with a policy objection.

If Obamacare were a one-page bill that did nothing but mandate that every American buy health insurance, it would still be unconstitutional, but it wouldn’t be the godawful train wreck that it is. It wouldn’t even be the godawful train wreck that high-speed rail is.

It would not be a 2,000-page, trillion-dollar federal program micromanaging every aspect of health care in America with enormous, unresponsive federal bureaucracies manned by no-show public-sector union members enforcing a mountain of regulations that will bankrupt the country and destroy medical care, as liberals scratch their heads and wonder why Obamacare is costing 20 times more than they expected and doctors are leaving the profession in droves for more lucrative careers, such as video store clerk.

Nothing good has ever come of a 2,000-page bill.

Michele Bachmann not likely to endorse any GOP candidate soon

Despite what the left wing propagandist media was spewing in rumor earlier today, Michele Bachmann isn’t getting ready to endorse any of the GOP candidates for president. Rumors started by the left wing corrupt media about Bachmann endorsing Mitt Romney were false as usual.

“Well, I haven’t made a decision about endorsements yet, I reserve the right to make an endorsement, I may before the process is all concluded, but I am nowhere near right now,” Bachmann said on CNN’s “Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer.”

So much for those polls that showed a “surge” for Newt Gingrich. Mitt Romney wins the Florida Republican Primary and all 50 of the state’s delegates. Romney’s numbers have been hovering around 45-50% of the vote so far. With the exit polls, Romney did very well with senior citizens, married woman, picking up over 50% of their vote. Romney even won Republicans and those who describe themselves as conservative. True conservative views of Romney was only at 14% and high moral character was only at 17%.

Newt Gingrich won with strong tea party supporters, very conservative people and evangelicals. No candidate has ever won South Carolina and lost Florida. This primary season is as wacky as it gets.

I guess we’re in for a long primary battle. The chances of Mittens dropping out of the GOP primary is about as likely as me voting for Obama this year, or a Democrat the rest of my life. Aka zilch. Gingrich told ABC that he intends to stay in the race for six to eight months no matter how he does unless Romney drops out. Oh, and Gingrich says he will NOT lose big in Florida tonight. Some polls have him behind by as much as 20 points, others by as few as five, so we shall see.

At a visit to a polling station in Orlando, I asked Newt Gingrich how much longer the battle for the Republican nomination will go on. He told me “six or eight months” and then added: “unless Romney drops out earlier.”

South Carolina primary final delegate count: 23 for Gingrich 2 for Mittens

The final delegate count for South Carolina’s primary has been posted at Gretawire. Newt Gingrich crushed Mitt Romney in that election and received 23 of the 25 total delegates. Mittens received 2 delegates. Also, the South Carolina primary saw a record vote turnout. 605,710 voters participated in the 2012 primary. This smashes the previous record of 573,101 set in the year 2000.

“I congratulate Speaker Gingrich and Governor Romney on winning delegates in South Carolina’s critically important Presidential Primary. South Carolina voters turned out in record numbers to help ensure that Barack Obama is simply the worst one-term president in U.S. history,” said SCGOP Chairman Chad Connelly.

Survey USA Florida Republican Primary poll puts Romney up over Gingrich by fifteen

Here’s another poll that puts Mittens up big over Newt Gingrich for tommorow’s Florida Republican Primary vote. The only recent poll to show Gingrich within striking distance came out on Sunday showing Gingrich five points behind Romney. Based on this and all the polls released over the weekend, it seems like an outlier. But who knows anymore. The Survey USA poll puts Mittens ahead of Gingrich by fifteen at 41% to 26%. Ron Paul and Rick Santorum each get 12% of the vote. If this poll is accurate, Mittens would win even if you combined Santorum and Gingrich’s vote.

Should I just split the difference and assume Mittens will win Florida by 7 or 8 points?

Insider Advantage Florida Republican Primary poll – Gingrich within five of Romney

Now this poll is a complete change from the recent polls released. Are the voters in Florida pulling a Romney and flip-flopping again, or is it an outlier? The latest Insider Advantage poll shows Newt Gingrich withing five points of Mitt Romney. Mittens get 36% of the vote while Gingrich gets 31%. Ron Paul and Rick Santorum each get 12% of the vote. The article at Newsmax states that Tuesday’s primary will be closer than expected. Men and Latinos are moving to Gingrich in droves, while women are still voting for Romney.

Towery noted that his poll showed a surge for Romney on Wednesday, with him leading Gingrich by 8 points. The InsiderAdvantage poll was among the first to show Romney’s resurgence after his dismal showing in the S. Carolina primary.

The problem of course is the early voting in Florida which (reportedly) has heavily favored Mittens. We shall see.

Rasmussen Florida Republican Primary poll: Mittens leads by sixteen points

It’s not looking good in Florida. The state is a winner take all primary and has already had a lot of early voters since polls opened weeks ago. A week ago today, Newt Gingrich lead Mittens by nine points in Florida in the same Rasmussen poll. Today, the polls have done a Mitt Romney flip-flop and give Mittens a sixteen point lead over Gingrich, a staggering 25 point swing in just one week.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Florida Republican Primary Voters, conducted Saturday, shows Romney up by 16 points with 44% support. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is a distant second at 28%.

Former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum earns 12% support, while Texas Congressman Ron Paul picks up 10%. One percent (1%) prefer some other candidate, and five percent (5%) are undecided.
