Obama’s mouthpiece network was the first to report this, now the AP (actually another Obama mouth piece) has confirmed it. American Traitor Adam Gadahn aka Fat Bastard has been captured in Pakistan! This comes on the heels of Gadahn urging U.S. Muslims to attack their own country. Let me agree with Caleb Howe who in a tweet said this:

If I had captured Adam Gadahn I’d nickname my rifle “Miranda rights.” So when people asked I could say “Yeah. He heard them.”

I don’t think I could have said this better myself, In fact, I know I couldn’t have.

The arrest of Adam Gadahn represents a major victory in the U.S.-led battle against al-Qaida and will be taken as a sign that Pakistan, criticized in the past for being an untrustworthy ally, is cooperating more fully with Washington. It follows the recent detentions of several Afghan Taliban commanders in Karachi, including the movement’s No. 2 commander.

U.S. officials did not immediately confirm Gadahn’s capture.

Gadahn has appeared in more than half a dozen al-Qaida videos, taunting and threatening the West and calling for its destruction. A U.S. court charged Gadahn with treason in 2006, making him the first American to face such a charge in more than 50 years.

He was arrested in the sprawling southern metropolis of Karachi in recent days, two officers who took part in the operation said. A senior government official also confirmed the arrest, but said it happened Sunday. The discrepancy could not immediately be resolved.

Obama calls ‘entrepreneurship summit’ with Muslims

I guess no beer or alcohol will be served at this summit. According to the AFP, The White House announced a “summit on entrepreneurship” to build economic ties with the Islamic world, part of Obama’s outreach to Muslims. The White House said it has invited participants from more than 40 countries over five continents for the April 26-27 conference in Washington.

“The summit will highlight the role entrepreneurship can play in addressing common challenges while building partnerships that will lead to greater opportunity abroad and at home,” White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said.

Obama first spoke of the entrepreneurship conference in his signature June 4 speech in Cairo to the Islamic world.

In the closely watched address, Obama said the United States was seeking a “new beginning” with the Islamic world to rebuild relations that had sharply deteriorated over the past decade.

Obama promised at the time that he would convene a “presidential summit on entrepreneurship” by the end of 2009.

He said that the meeting would “identify how we can deepen ties between business leaders, foundations and social entrepreneurs in the United States and Muslim communities around the world.”

KSFO 560-AM fires conservative talk show host Lee Rodgers for refusing to sugarcoat Islam

On February 18th, with one minute left of his San Francisco Bay early morning talk show on KSFO 560-AM, conservative radio host, Lee Rodgers, received his pink slip without warning for refusing to. “…say nice things about Muslims.” Rodgers, who was a 25 year veteran of ABC Radio and a 15 year veteran at KSFO with his highly rated and profitable Lee Rodgers Show, was in the normal process of renegotiating his contract for renewal in July when he was fired. According to Publius Forum, this is a clear violation of his contract. Rodgers said that his leaving, “…was forced upon me, with no notice.”

ABC Radio is owned by Citadel Corporation and is in bankruptcy. Its move to terminate one of its highest rated and profitable hosts in a major metropolitan market seems counter-productive but is not unusual under Citadel’s current management. Earlier in the month Chicago sister station, WLS-AM 890 fired in mid-week the abrasive but entertaining libertarian, Mancow Muller, and his co-host, Pat Cassidy, for, as Muller put it, “no rhyme or reason.”

In an email sent to his fans, Rodgers wrote, “The top management of Citadel, led by a CEO named Farid Suleiman–widely regarded as the most incompetent executive in broadcasting–decided that I was making too much money after 25 years with ABC and fifteen as morning host on KSFO, taking no note of the fact that I’ve generated large sums of money for the company.”

Rodgers then went on to say, “I WILL tell you, in all candor, that thanks to Mr. Suleiman’s Citadel management, I could no longer proudly say that the company had never told me what to say or what not to say. There was an obvious cave-in to some ultra-left and pro-Muslim groups, making it unlikely that I would have ever renewed my contract with the company, anyway.”

Rodgers’ co-host, Melanie Morgan, lost her slot in what ostensibly was a cost-cutting move on the part of KSFO in 2008. However, immediately before she was let go, Morgan was war reporting directly from Iraq and was one of the leading charity organizers in the nation for sending goodie packages to our frontline fighting men and women in the WOT. Morgan was pro-Bush and a major cheerleader on the Iraqi and Afghani fronts. Even though her husband, Jack Swanson, was then and still is the manager of KSFO, it was not enough to ensure that her contract was renewed.

Over the 15 years that Rodgers was morning host, he was famous for not suffering fools gladly and holding firmly to conservative principles. He repeatedly stated that the last, true President of the United States concerned with the actual welfare of America was Ronald Reagan and that the Islamic nation building conducted under President Bush II was a disastrous waste of American manpower and money. Rodgers advocated secure borders, reported on Islamic terrorism, cultural jihad and creeping sharia within the USA, and repeatedly hammered on the Obama Administration over its gross incompetence, corruption, conflicts of interest, bailouts and willful shredding of the Constitution.

Rodgers’ co-hosts, Melanie Morgan and Officer Vic (Tom Benner), followed his lead but Rodgers left them in the dust with his show preparation and research that was so extensive he operated on only four hours of sleep a day. Rodgers never accepted second-rate thinking from anyone including his guests and nationally syndicated conservative talk show host, Mark Levin, cut his radio teeth with Rodgers as a call-in debater when Levin was a patent attorney in the South Bay/Silicon Valley city of Sunnyvale.

Rodgers is not registered with the Republican Party and, unlike many other conservative radio talk show hosts, refuses to carry water for the GOP. Rodgers could easily translate into national syndication and would give Levin and Rush Limbaugh major competition for listeners.

Maryland public school teacher punished for ordering student to stand during the Pledge of Allegiance

I’ve said it before, and i’ll say it again. If you don’t love America, get the f*ck out! This applies to this little 13 year old girl and her parents (and frankly anyone who supports them). According to Todd Starnes and Washington Examiner, a Maryland public school teacher was punished after she ordered a student to stand during the Pledge of Allegiance. The incident occurred at Robert Clemente Middle School in Montgomery County, MD. As students rose to recite the Pledge the teacher noticed one child still seated. She asked her to stand and the student refused. Still defiant, the teacher sent her to the office. The following morning, the girl once again refused to stand. This time, the teacher called two school police officers to escort the girl to the office. Of course, the ACLU is getting involved, because the little brat kid is:

“so traumatized by her teacher’s humiliating and inappropriate reaction that she has not felt comfortable returning to school until the situation is addressed.”

ACLU attorney Ajmel Quereshi who coincidently was Co-President of the Muslim Law Students Association at Minnesota Law School said:

“The law is crystal clear that a public school cannot embarrass or harass a student for maintaining a respectful silence during the Pledge of Allegiance,” ACLU attorney Ajmel Quereshi told the Washington Examiner.

The ACLU demanded an apology from the teacher. ACLU attorneys also demanded the teacher promise to respect the students rights in the future and discuss the incident with the class so it can become an educational opportunity.

Montgomery County school officials and the local teacher’s union have decided to back the ACLU and said the teacher violated district policy.

No, muslim terrorists in countries like Yemen, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Iran, etc aren’t the problem. Instead its those doggone American terrorists who are U.S. citizens or live in the country legally and plot against the U.S. are just as big of a concern as international terrorists. Hey Janet, you mean like Nidal Malik Hassan who still hasn’t been mentioned as being a terrorist?

She says that when she started as secretary a year ago, the focus was largely on international terrorists who want to harm U.S. interests. But in the past year, more of the violent extremism that has been seen overseas is showing up in the U.S.

She says officials need to drill down and analyze the factors that make a young person, raised in the U.S., migrate to extremist beliefs and actions.

Napolitano was speaking to governors who are in Washington for their annual conference.

Obama OIC Envoy Rashad Hussain finally admits he made the remarks defending Terror Suspect Sami al-Arian

Hey Obama! YOU LIE AGAIN! Remember a few days ago when The White House initially responded to the controversy of OIC envoy Rashad Hussain’s comments that they really came from al-Arian’s daughter, Laila al-Arian and not Hussain? Just add it to the pile of lies from Obama. The new Muslim envoy Rashad Hussain finally admitted Friday that he once defending Sami al-Arian, who later pleaded guilty to conspiring to aid a terrorist group — an admission that contradicts earlier claims from the White House that the quotes had been mistakenly attributed to Hussain. According to Fox News:

Hussain, named by Obama as an envoy to the Organization of Islamic Conference, said Friday his comments at the time were “ill conceived or not well formulated.”

In 2004, the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs quoted Hussain saying at a seminar on Muslim issues that Sami al-Arian was the victim of “politically motivated persecutions” after al-Arian, a university professor, was charged in 2003 with heading U.S. operations of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

Al-Arian pleaded guilty in 2006 to conspiracy to aid the group — designated by the U.S. as a foreign terrorist group since 1997 — and was sentenced to more than four years in prison.

The Web version of the 2004 article in the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs was later edited to delete all of Hussain’s comments. Editor Delinda Hanley told Fox News last week she believed the change was made in February 2009.

Hanley didn’t recall who requested the edit, but Hussain said Friday that he had contacted the publication to “raise concerns” about comments that he said were “without context, leaving a misimpression.”

“Eventually, on their own accord, they modified the article,” said Hussain, who was a Yale Law student and an editor of the Yale Law Journal at the time of the panel discussion.

CBN News has learned exclusively that five Muslim soldiers at Fort Jackson in South Carolina were arrested just before Christmas 2009 attempting to poison the food supply. It is unclear whether the men are still in custody. This coming on the heels of the November Muslim Jihad at Fort Hood.The five were part of the Arabic Translation program at the base.

A source with intimate knowledge of the investigation, which is ongoing, told CBN News investigators suspect the “Fort Jackson Five” may have been in contact with the group of five Washington, DC area Muslims that traveled to Pakistan to wage jihad against U.S. troops in December. That group was arrested by Pakistani authorities, also just before Christmas.

Janet Napolitano Meets with Muslim Brotherhood

According to a Pajamas Media exclusive, last month, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and her senior staff privately met in Washington, D.C., with a select group of Muslim, Arab, and Sikh organizations. No bid deal right? If this were the extent of the meeting yea, this wouldn’t be a big deal. However, according to the story, among the mix were three organizations directly associated with an outlawed terrorist entity — the Muslim Brotherhood!

Secretary Napolitano spent an hour and a half briefing them on Department of Homeland Security (DHS) counter-radicalization and anti-terrorist programs. The intensive briefings spanned two days (January 27 and 28) and were called by the DHS.

Although there is no evidence of an exchange of classified information, this meeting was the beginning of an Obama administration program aimed at devising a new information-sharing framework with the Muslim organizations — some of them regarded as extremist because of their ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. The group is to meet regularly with DHS senior aides and with Napolitano. This program was imported from the United Kingdom. The Obama administration has decided to replicate the UK program to win over Muslims and to get them to collaborate with the federal government.

Although Matthew Chandler, deputy press secretary and spokesman for Secretary Napolitano, refused to comment on the meetings or identify the groups that attended the two-day session, Pajamas Media has learned the identities of a number of the participants and interviewed them — including those linked to the Muslim Brotherhood.

According to the New York Times (which leaked yet another supposed to be secret security story) and Gateway Pundit, The Taliban’s top military commander was captured several days ago in Karachi, Pakistan, in a secret joint operation by Pakistani and American intelligence forces, according to American government officials. The commander, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, is an Afghan described by American officials as the most significant Taliban figure to be detained since the American-led war in Afghanistan started more than eight years ago. He ranks second in influence only to Mullah Muhammad Omar, the Taliban’s founder and a close associate of Osama bin Laden before the 9/11 attacks. No word yet if he was read his Miranda Rights 50 minutes after being interrogated.

Mullah Baradar has been in Pakistani custody for several days, with American and Pakistani intelligence officials both taking part in interrogations, according to the officials.

It was unclear whether he was talking, but the officials said his capture had provided a window into the Taliban and could lead to other senior officials. Most immediately, they hope he will provide the whereabouts of Mullah Omar, the one-eyed cleric who is the group’s spiritual leader.

Disclosure of Mullah Baradar’s capture came as American and Afghan forces were in the midst of a major offensive in southern Afghanistan.

His capture could cripple the Taliban’s military operations, at least in the short term, said Bruce O. Riedel, a former C.I.A. officer who last spring led the Obama administration’s Afghanistan and Pakistan policy review.

Details of the raid remain murky, but officials said that it had been carried out by Pakistan’s military spy agency, the Directorate for Inter-Services Intelligence, or ISI, and that C.I.A. operatives had accompanied the Pakistanis.

This is a great achievement for the military, and yet another chance for Obama and his adminstration to do things right, instead of screwing things up. Left wing nut jobs, such as Firedog Lake are only concerned that Barada isn’t “tortured”.

Obama’s new OIC Envoy Rashad Hussain defended muslim activist who aided terrorist group

Another America hater appointed by Obama. Who would have thunk it? Rashad Hussain, whom Obama appointed envoy to the Organization of the Islamic Conference was quoted in 2004 as saying an American who aided a Palestinian terrorist group was the victim of “politically motivated persecutions” who was being used “to squash dissent.” Rashad Hussain was also quoted as telling a Muslim students’ event in Chicago (how appropriate) that if U.S. Muslims did not speak out against the injustices taking place in America, then everyone’s rights would be in jeopardy, according to CNSNews.

The Washington Report on Middle East Affairs (WRMEA) cited Hussain as making the remarks in connection with Sami al-Arian, a university professor and activist sentenced in 2006 to more than four years in prison (including time already spent in custody) after he had pleaded guilty to conspiring to aid the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ).

The U.S. government designated the PIJ as a foreign terrorist organization in 1997, and in 2003, then Attorney-General John Ashcroft described it as “one of the most violent terrorist organizations in the world.”

Palestinian Islamic Jihad has killed more than 100 Israelis in suicide bombings and other attacks. Its victims include American citizens Alisa Flatow, a 20-year-old New Jersey college student killed in a 1995 suicide bombing in Gaza, and 16-year-old Shoshana Ben-Ishai, shot dead in a bus in Jerusalem in 2001.

In sentencing al-Arian, Judge James Moody of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida described him as a “leader of the PIJ” and a “master manipulator.”

Al-Arian remains under home detention in Virginia pending contempt of court charges relating to his refusal to testify in an unrelated case involving an Islamic think tank. Sympathizers view him as a victim of post-9/11 law enforcement zeal and anti-Muslim prejudice. (The WRMEA article described him as “an innocent man targeted for free-speech activities, whose rights were stripped thanks in part to the PATRIOT Act.”)

Among those sympathizers, evidently, was Rashad Hussain, who at the time of the cited remarks was a Yale Law School student and an editor, from 2003-2005, of the Yale Law Journal. He went on to serve as a Department of Justice trial attorney and in January 2009 was appointed White House deputy associate counsel.

On Saturday, Obama named the Texas-born, 31-year-old Indian-American as his envoy to the OIC, the 57-member bloc of Islamic states. The appointment is in line with the president’s goal, expressed in his speech in Cairo last June, to reach out to the Islamic world.

It’s official! Hakeemullah Mehsud is dead!

The Taliban based in Orakzai Agency confirmed on Tuesday that Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan chief Hakeemullah Mehsud is dead, according to DawnNews. Mehsud died on Sunday in Multan after succumbing to injuries received in a drone attack in Shaktoi village.

However, Alam Tariq the offiicial Taliban spokesman has not yet made a statement.

Sources said that Maulvi Noor Jamal has been nominated as Mehsud’s succesor.

Government officials too have confirmed his death.

American and Pakistani officials had been saying Mehsud was dead since the past few weeks.

Maulvi Noor Jamal is a native of the Orakzai Agency and rose to power as the leader of the Taliban in the Kurram tribal area.

He was also given responsibilities for Orakzai when the military began the Waziristan offensive in October.

Jamal is in his late thirties and was a maulana at a local madrassah before he was made the leader of the Taliban in Kurram.

He had a close relationship with Mehsud and is known for his brutality.

One resident who left Khurram for fear of being wanted by him said Jamal “…kills humans like one will kill chickens.”

Jamal is also the man who is allegedly overseeing the flogging of two men and a teenage boy in a recently broadcast video.

Obama said Sunday that he has still has not ruled out a New York City federal court trial for Sept. 11 planner Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, according to Fox News.

The Obama administration has come under withering attack, mainly from Republicans, for a decision by his Justice Department to try the terrorist mastermind in a U.S. court near Ground Zero, site of the attack that destroyed New York’s World Trade Center

Obama said using the traditional judicial method was a “virtue of our system” in which Americans should take pride.

He also defended his decision, noting again that the administration of former President George W. Bush had handled terror suspects arrested in the United States in the same way.

“They prosecuted 190 folks in these Article III courts, got convictions and those folks are in maximum security prisons right now. And there have been no escapes,” Obama said. “And it is a virtue of our system we should be proud of.”

Later Sunday, Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., responded: “Based on the security, logistical and cost concerns raised by the mayor and the police commissioner, it is not feasible to have the trials in New York. The administration should realize that and move on.”

In a pre-Super Bowl interview with CBS’ Katie Couric, Obama also said that passing health care reform remained the key to bringing down America’s skyrocketing budget deficit. He said he was calling Republican and Democratic congressional leaders to a meeting later this month to thoroughly air the issue.

“The biggest thing, the most important thing we can do on deficits … is to get a health reform package passed,” Obama said.

In a nation of cowards, at least according to Eric Holder, he may be the biggest coward of them all. According to Politico, Attorney General Eric Holder has finally admitted that it was in fact him who made the decision to read the crotch bomber Abdulmutallab his Miranda rights after just 50 minutes of interrogations. Of course Holder much like everyone else in Obama’s adminstration is blaming Bush for doing this.

Attorney General Eric Holder says he made the decision to read the underwear bomber suspect his Miranda rights — and he’s hammering Republicans for politicizing a practice he says they backed when George W. Bush was in office.

“I made the decision to charge Mr. Abdulmutallab with federal crimes, and to seek his detention in connection with those charges, with the knowledge of, and with no objection from, all other relevant departments of the government,” Holder wrote in a letter to senators Monday.

He called the decision “fully consistent” with precedents set by “administrations of both parties.”

“Those policies and practices, which were not criticized when employed by previous administrations, have been and remain extremely effective in protecting national security,” he said.

The Holder letter is the Obama administration’s latest round in an ongoing battle with congressional Republicans, who have accused the president of jeopardizing national security by informing the alleged terror plotter of his right to remain silent.

Holder said intelligence and law enforcement officials explicitly discussed whether to use the military tribunal system to try Abdulmutallab.

“No agency supported the use of law of war detention for Abdulmutallab, and no agency has since advised the Department of Justice that an alternative course of action should have been, or should now be, pursued,” Holder wrote.

Since Rasmussen has been polling this question back in 2002, the lowest level ever recorded for this question on those who feel the country is safe from a big terrorist was 37%. In January of 2009 when Obama was inaugurated, 51% of the country felt the country was safe from a big terrorist attack. Now, only 36% of those polled feel safer than before 9/11, an all time record low for the Rasmussen polling question. It only took Obama and his kiss ass approach with Muslim terrorists to cause a 15% swing in the polls.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says the nation will deliver a harsh blow to the “global arrogance” on this year’s anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.

“The Islamic Revolution opened a window to liberty for the human race, which was trapped in the dead ends of materialism,” Ahmadinejad said during a cabinet meeting on Sunday.

“If the Islamic Revolution had not occurred, liberalism and Marxism would have crushed all human dignity in their power-seeking and money-grubbing claws. Nothing would have remained of human and spiritual principles,” he added.

Ahmadinejad said that in the three decades of its history, the Islamic Revolution had inspired some great developments in the world.

The Iranian president made the remarks as the 31st anniversary of the Islamic Revolution approaches.

Iranians are expected to pour into the streets on February 11 to celebrate the occasion in public rallies across the country, as they have done annually over the past three decades.

According to the New York Daily News, White House officials have told the Justice Department to consider other venues for the 9/11 terror trial that was to be held in lower Manhattan, the Daily News has learned. I have a suggestion. How about Eric Holder’s house? Michelle Malkin’s commenters have already offered suggestions for liberal / progressive cities that would be perfect fits for this America hating POS:

The decision came after Mayor Bloomberg and other politicians across the state railed against President Obama’s plan to try Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in Manhattan Federal Court.

Attorney General Eric Holder now has to think of other places where the trial could take place, officials said.

It was not immediately clear if the reassessment means the trial will definitely be moved out of the city.

White House worried about “legality” of killing radical Muslim Cleric Anwar al Awlaki In Yemen

Forget for a minute that this piece of sh*t Anwar Awlaki gleefully claims he trained scum like Nidal Malik Hasan to kill Americans, what’s worry about about Awlaki’s “legal rights”. According to ABC, White House lawyers are mulling the legality of proposed attempts to kill an American citizen. Anwar al Awlaki, is believed to be part of the leadership of the al Qaeda group in Yemen behind a series of terror strikes, according to two people briefed by U.S. intelligence officials.

One of the people briefed said opportunities to “take out” Awlaki “may have been missed” because of the legal questions surrounding a lethal attack which would specifically target an American citizen. A spokesperson said the White House declined to comment.

While Awlaki has not been charged with any crimes under U.S. law, intelligence officials say recent intelligence reports and electronic intercepts show he played an important role in recruiting the accused “underwear bomber” Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab. Awlaki also carried on extensive e-mail communication with the accused Fort Hood shooter, Major Nidal Hasan, prior to the attack that killed 12 soldiers and one civilian.

According to the people who were briefed on the issue, American officials fear the possibility of criminal prosecution without approval in advance from the White House for a targeted strike against Awlaki.

An American citizen with suspected al Qaeda ties was killed in Nov. 2002 in Yemen in a CIA predator strike that was aimed at non-American leaders of al Qaeda. The death of the American citizen, Ahmed Hijazi of Lackawanna, NY, was justified as “collateral damage” at the time because he “was just in the wrong place at the wrong time,” said a former U.S. official familiar with the case.

In the case of Awlaki, born in New Mexico and a college student in Colorado and California, a strike aimed to kill him would stretch current Presidential authority given to the CIA and the Pentagon to pursue terrorists anywhere in the world.

The system worked on the isolated extremist. So much so, he’s being treated as a common criminal like someone who knocked off a liquor store and gets a lawyer paid for by you and I. Problem is, this so called “isolated extremist” as Obama claimed is not only a part of Al Qaeda. According to Reuters/Yahoo Osama Bin Laden claimed responsibility for the failed December 25 bombing. In a tape released today to Al Jazeera, Osama in addition to claiming responsibility, also vowed to continue attacks on the United States. I wonder what would happen if Osama was ever captured. Would he get a free lawyer and be created as a civilian instead of an enemy combatant too?

In his message addressed “from Osama to (U.S. President Barack) Obama,” bin Laden said the attempt to blow up the jet as it neared Detroit was a continuation of al Qaeda policy since the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States.

White House adviser David Axelrod said he could not confirm the authenticity of the tape, which was broadcast by Al Jazeera television before international meetings this week on how to deal with militancy in Afghanistan and Yemen.

But Abdelbari Atwan, editor of Al-Quds-Al-Arabi newspaper who met the al Qaeda leader in 1996, said: “It is bin Laden’s voice and style. The poetry, the references he makes are identifiably his.”

Bin Laden praised the Nigerian who has been charged with trying to blow up Northwest Flight 253.

“The message sent to you with the attempt by the hero Nigerian Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab is a confirmation of our previous message conveyed by the heroes of September 11,” he said. “If it was possible to carry our messages to you by words, we wouldn’t have carried them to you by planes.”

The botched attack by the Yemen-based regional wing of al Qaeda on Christmas Day, and subsequent threats in Yemen, raised global pressure for a crackdown, helping to prompt Sanaa to declare an open war on the militant group within its territory.

Defense and counterterrorism officials say Washington quietly has been supplying military equipment, intelligence and training to Yemen to destroy suspected al Qaeda hide-outs.

Since the attempted bombing, Yemen has launched a series of air strikes targeting al Qaeda leaders and has declared that some top regional leaders, including Qasim al-Raymi and Ayed al-Shabwani, have been killed.

But Al Qaeda denies the claims. Yemen subsequently attacked the rural home of Shabwani but gave no hint on the result.

Muslim Little Rock shooter Abdulhakim Muhammad a part of Al Qaeda?

Perhaps just another “isolated extremist” Mr. President? In a letter to the judge presiding over his case, the Muslim who killed a soldier outside a Little Rock, Arkansas military recruiting station named Abdulhakim Muhammad is now calling himself a soldier of Al Qaeda. Muhammad is also calling the shooting “a Jihadi Attack” in retribution for the killing of Muslims by American troops according to the New York Times.

“I wasn’t insane or post traumatic nor was I forced to do this Act,” Mr. Muhammad said in a two-page, hand-printed note in pencil. The attack, which he said did not go as planned, was “justified according to Islamic Laws and the Islamic Religion. Jihad — to fight those who wage war on Islam and Muslims.”

It remains unclear whether Mr. Muhammad really has ties to Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, which President Obama has said is behind the attempted Christmas Day bombing of an American plane by a Nigerian man.

But if evidence emerges that his claim is true, it will give the June 1, 2009, shooting in Little Rock new significance at a time when Yemen is being more closely scrutinized as a source of terrorist plots against the United States.

Mr. Muhammad, 24, a Muslim convert from Memphis, spent about 16 months in Yemen starting in the fall of 2007, ostensibly teaching English and learning Arabic. During that time, he married a woman from south Yemen. But he was also imprisoned for several months because he overstayed his visa and was holding a fraudulent Somali passport, the Yemen government said.

Under pressure from the United States government, Yemen deported Mr. Muhammad in late January 2009. But just four months after his return, Mr. Muhammad used a semiautomatic rifle to gun down two soldiers — Pvt. William A. Long and Pvt. Quinton Ezeagwula — while they were standing outside a military recruiting station in Little Rock, killing Private Long and wounding Private Ezeagwula.

After the shooting, Mr. Muhammad pleaded not guilty, but also took responsibility for the shootings in interviews with The Associated Press. But he did not acknowledge being part of an extremist group and some terrorism experts came to view him as a self-radicalized, lone actor.

In his letter to Herb Wright Jr., a Pulaski County circuit judge, Mr. Muhammad calls himself a member of “Abu Basir’s Army,” an apparent reference to Naser Abdel-Karim al-Wahishi, the Yemen group’s leader, who also goes by the name Abu Basir.

Mr. Muhammad’s father, Melvin Bledsoe, a Memphis businessman, said that while he believes his son may have been radicalized in Yemen, he doubts whether he has serious ties to the Qaeda affiliate.

He suggested that Mr. Muhammad might be trying to link himself to Al Qaeda because he believes it will lead to his execution and make him a martyr. Mr. Bledsoe added that he considers his son “unable to process” reality, describing him as “brainwashed.”

“I think a lot of this is make-believe,” Mr. Bledsoe said in an interview.
