This is a real head scratcher. Rand Paul will back Mitch McConnell for re-election as Kentucky Senator in 2014. McConnell has had a good day. First Ashley Judd wouldn’t challenge him, now Rand Paul will support him and not support a tea party challenger. McConnell’s camp also claims that Rand Paul has officially endorsed McConnell, although nothing public from Paul has been said.

Ann Coulter whined on Hannity (again) about Rand Paul. She doesn’t like him because ‘He’s Not Our Candidate,’ He Wants ‘Legal Pot And Amnesty For Illegals’ something. This is from the same Ann Coulter who had her (whatever) firmly attached to Chris Christie’s belly for all of 2012. I realize there will never be the perfect candidate. I may not agree with Rand Paul and everything, but if I had a chance to vote for Rand Paul, or one of Coulter’s preferred establishment GOP hacks like Christie, i’d vote Rand Paul in a heartbeat. Could has jumped the shark as far as I’m concerned. I still love her books, but as a pundit, she’s as relevant these days as a box of rocks. Rand Paul Wins CPAC Straw Poll – Marco Rubio second
It used to be in years past that Ron Paulians would flood the CPAC straw poll making sure Ron Paul would win it. It’s always been, and will always be a meaningless poll. But Rand Paul is different. Ron Paulians don’t like him as much as his daddy and conservatives love him. This makes Rand Paul winning of the CPAC straw poll a bit more impressive. Paul won the poll with 25% of the vote. Marco Rubio got second place with 23%.

Rand Paul full CPAC speech – ‘The GOP Of Old Has Grown Stale And Moss-Covered’ (Video)
Rand Paul didn’t want to name any names when he called said that the current GOP has grown stale and moss-covered, but I think you can figure our for yourself who Rand Paul was taking a shot at. If you need any reminder, just look at the old, state, moss-covered RINO John McCain who had a cute little dinner with Obama during Rand Paul’s filibuster of John Brennan, then threw a tantrum the next day over it on the Senate floor. Paul also spoke about the importance of liberty, and how people just want to be left alone and not have their lives run by government.

Lets take a trip down memory lane back into the late ’80s and early 1990s when John McCain was a part of the Keating Five. This was was a group five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989. Four of them where Democrats. The other was John McCain. From Wikipedia:
The Keating Five were five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s. The five senators – Alan Cranston (Democrat of California), Dennis DeConcini (Democrat of Arizona), John Glenn (Democrat of Ohio), John McCain (Republican of Arizona), and Donald W. Riegle, Jr. (Democrat of Michigan) – were accused of improperly intervening in 1987 on behalf of Charles H. Keating, Jr., Chairman of the Lincoln Savings and Loan Association, which was the target of a regulatory investigation by the Federal Home Loan Bank Board (FHLBB). The FHLBB subsequently backed off taking action against Lincoln.
Lincoln Savings and Loan collapsed in 1989, at a cost of over $3 billion to the federal government. Some 23,000 Lincoln bondholders were defrauded and many investors lost their life savings. The substantial political contributions Keating had made to each of the senators, totaling $1.3 million, attracted considerable public and media attention. After a lengthy investigation, the Senate Ethics Committee determined in 1991 that Cranston, DeConcini, and Riegle had substantially and improperly interfered with the FHLBB’s investigation of Lincoln Savings, with Cranston receiving a formal reprimand. Senators Glenn and McCain were cleared of having acted improperly but were criticized for having exercised “poor judgment”.

After some Republicans dined with Obama and others joined Rand Paul during his filibuster, today Al Quds John Brennan was confirmed with 13 Republicans voting to confirm him. The list included the usual worthless RINOS of John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Orrin Hatch, and Lisa Murkowski. But Marco Rubio who joined the filibuster yesterday with Paul also voted to confirm Al Quds Brennan.

Senator Rand Paul epic filibuster over – lasted 12 hours and 52 minutes and done without a teleprompter
Rand Paul’s epic filibuster finally came to an end, clocking in at just under 13 hours at 12 hours and 52 minutes. How can ANYONE with a good conscious vote for cloture on Al Quds Brennan now? John McCain was no where to be found, nor was Richard Burr of North Carolina or Lindsey Graham of South Carolina. Instead, they decided to dine with Obama, and go God knows what else with him afterwards. Just remember. From this day forward, anyone who votes for cloture on Al Quds Brennan will be casting a vote giving Obama (or any US President) the authority to kill you.
