Creators Syndicate – another company going Galt and ready to leave liberal/tax hell Los Angeles
Rick Newcombe, the president of Creators Syndicate, has written an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal about how Los Angeles, the liberal dump is chasing away another business. More from The WSJ:
If New Yorkers fantasize that doing business here in Los Angeles would be less of a headache, forget about it. This city is fast becoming a job-killing machine. It’s no accident the unemployment rate is a frightening 11.4% and climbing.
I never could have imagined that, after living here for more than three decades, I would be filing a lawsuit against my beloved Los Angeles and making plans for my company, Creators Syndicate, to move elsewhere.
But we have no choice. The city’s bureaucrats rival Stalin’s apparatchiks in issuing decrees, rescinding them, and then punishing citizens for having followed them in the first place.
I founded Creators Syndicate in 1987, and we have represented hundreds of important writers, syndicating their columns to newspapers and Web sites around the world. The most famous include Hillary Clinton, who, like Eleanor Roosevelt, wrote a syndicated column when she was first lady. Another star was the advice columnist Ann Landers, once described by “The World Almanac” as “the most influential woman in America.” Other Creators columnists include Bill O’Reilly, Susan Estrich, Thomas Sowell, Roland Martin and Michelle Malkin — plus Pulitzer Prize-winning political cartoonists and your favorite comic strips.
Remember, Tea Parties are nothing but bitter Republicans who hate Obama! Tell that to Texas Senator Cornyn
Am I to assume that those who booed Texas senator John Cornyn off the state at the Austin tea party on Saturday are also a bunch of tea bagging rednecks and partisian hacks? This is the same John Cornyn who voted for the TARP bill (under Bush), that ended the Bush admin’s reckless spending and sent it into overdrive with Obama.
37,000 at Tea Party in Dallas, no Janeane Garofalo hag
As the media continues to censor information on the 1500 or so tea parties over the July 4th weekend, Michelle Malkin, who attended the tea party in Dallas, TX reports that estimates of about 37,000 people showed up. She also has some pictures of the event.

Billionaire Tom Golisano flips the bird to New York, heads to Florida
Billionaire Tom Golisano, founder of Paychex, is tired of high taxes in New York and is officially leaving that dump hole for Florida. He wrote an article in the NYPost today:
Politicians like to talk about incentives — for businesses to relocate, for example, or to get folks to buy local. After reviewing the new budget, I have identified the most compelling incentive of all: a major tax break immedi ately available to all New Yorkers. To be eligible, you need do only one thing: move out of New York state.
Last week I spent 90 minutes doing a couple of simple things — registering to vote, changing my driver’s license, filling out a domicile certificate and signing a homestead certificate — in Florida. Combined with spending 184 days a year outside New York, these simple procedures will save me over $5 million in New York taxes annually.
By moving to Florida, I can spend that $5 million on worthy causes, like better hospitals, improving education or the Clinton Global Initiative. Or maybe I’ll continue to invest it in fighting the status quo in Albany. One thing’s certain: That money won’t continue to fund Albany’s bloated bureaucracy, corrupt politicians and regular special-interest handouts.
How did the state get to this point? By spending, spending and spending some more.
More tax increase propostions TERMINATED by state voters, liberals and cryin’ Arnold begin the blame game
Voters decided yesterday on the increase in tax measures, and the propostions failed miserably, much like those running the state itself. are to decide on five propositions aimed at shoring up California’s finances and another that would freeze state salaries. One measure that did pass in California w as Proposition 1F. Proposition would prevent pay raises for legislators and statewide officeholders in deficit years. Gee, novel idea doncha think? But of course now, the liberal whiners are all up in arms that the increase in tax measures failed. Here’s a sample from the L.A. Times:
Rightly or wrongly, voters in the special election refused either to extend new tax hikes or to cap state spending. They also declined to unlock funds that they had voted in better financial times to set aside for special purposes.
Nearly a century after the Progressive-era birth of the state’s ballot-measure system, it is clear that voters’ fickle commands, one proposition at a time, are a top contributor to paralysis in Sacramento. And that, in turn, has helped cripple the capacity of the governor and Legislature to provide effective leadership to a state of more than 38 million people.
The Sacramento Bee also got in on the action. The Bee’s editorial basically told Californians to F**k off (title: “You did it! Uh, so now what?”). This didn’t go over so well with readers and Rush Limbaugh. Since the “The Bee” yanked the editorial and replaced it with a with a cut down version.
Hotair also has a video by ReasonTV as to why these tax hike props failed. In a state thats already the highest taxed state in the nation, those who voted for no tax increase are fickle now? Even those “wonderful Americans” in San Francisco? Well, I guess this mean less cross country flights for Arnold (that it while he’s still Governor) to visit Obama.

Hey Arnold, we are not your ATM!
Tax Revolt 09 in California today. With the “special election” set for Tuesday for even more tax measures on Californians like myself, KFI’s John and Ken (in Los Angeles) held another revolt rally today. Plenty of pictures, and info are provided at their KFI site. There is good news in regards to Schwarzenegger/Shriver’s scare tactics saying that said if the propositions do not pass it could mean releasing thousands of prisoners, borrowing billions of dollars from already-strapped local governments and even drilling off the Santa Barbara coast. The two major tax issues on the ballot for Tuesday are:
Proposition 1A, which would set aside money for a rainy day fund and extend recent tax increases, is failing by 13 points.
Proposition 1B, which would require payments to schools, is losing by nine points.

Today’s voting day. The taxping propostions are very likely to fail! Don’t buy into Arnolds and the rest of the California democratic scum’s fear tactics! Today on a radio talk show some liberal host was describing how California politicians are basically telling voters if they don’t pass today’s propositions that Police will be cut, Fire Stations will be shut down, Education will be cut and Prisoners will be released…. I believe he explained it by saying.. Child molesters will be in class with your kids, with no police force, no teachers and the building will be on fire. ARNOLD, you aren’t in the movies now. You’re scare tactics are useless (much like the democrats controlling this state).
Math is hard for Arnold and the California democrats, income tax revenues fall short by $2.5 BILLION
Democrats, and the closet democrat Arnold Schwarzenegger simply aren’t very good at math (or governing a state either). Sales tax went up 1% in April, which also happens to be California’s largest tax-collection month, yet tax-collection has fallen short of expected revenue by more than $1.8 billion in personal and corporate income taxes. California’s tax receipts so far are about $2.5 billion behind projections for the current fiscal year and forecasts are for a revenue shortfall of $8 billion next year. Also, if voters reject Proposition 1C (borrowing against future state lottery sales) along with 1D and 1E (shifting taxes for children and mental health programs to other uses), the state would be short another $6 billion. Now thats how you run a state Democrats!
The war on corporate America by Obama continues – Obama plans corporate tax crackdown
Basically Obama is planning on eliminating or heavily reducing a tax deferment on companies that reinvest their international profits in overseas operations. He also plans to extend an R/D tax incentive. As well, he plans on seeking out the taxable incomes of people moving money to tax havens overseas. UBS (a well known Swiss bank) has already paid nearly $1 billion in penalties for knowingly hiding US money, and is being sued by the US for civil penalties by hiding the income of over 50,000 US citizens.
What do you bet the Clinton’s stash of money in the Cayman’s will be exempted?
So now the companies will spin off their oversea operations, and the profits. Issue shares in the new companies in a non-taxable event. And say goodbye to the jobs and profits completely from the standpoint of the US Corporation. The Stockholders won’t lose because they get the stock of the spin-off. But the US Corporation loses the asset and its profits, making the remaining US corporate HQ look like an expense, instead of a profit center, located in a high corporate tax environment. Sounds like a reciepe for the closure of the US Corporate HQ and relocation to a Corporate Tax haven.
Kiss your Obama tax cuts away if you make under $250,000 – the $400 per year income tax
95% of Americans will see a tax cut under my plan – B. Hussein Obama. Those of you making under $250,000 per year will see a tax cut – B. Hussein Obama. Read my lips, NO NEW TAXES! – George H.W. Bush 41st POTUS. What do all these have in common? Lies! Thats what. Hussein Obama’s so called tax cuts to 95% of Americans is about to be thrown under the bus according to the Washington Times:

No tax increases for those making under $250,000 eh? Well, lets hope if you purchase anything over the internet, you make over $250,000 because the sales tax is going up!
All we heard from Hussein is how no one making under $250,000 will see their taxes increases. Earlier this month, those who buy cigarettes saw a big increase on their purchases. I assume not everyone who smokes makes that much. Now, if you buy anything over the internet a bill will reportedly be introduced on the Hill this week by GOP Sen. Mike Enzi, a Wyoming Republican, and Rep. Bill Delahunt, a Massachusetts Democrat, which will effectively impose Internet sales taxes and turn online retailers into tax collectors.
April 15th, 2009 Tea Party highlights – estimated 250,000 nation wide attended. – Nancy Pelosi whines the GOP grass-roots effort as “AstroTurf.” Other democrats call tea parties goers neo-Nazis, militias, secessionists and racists!
Michelle Malkin among others have some stats and highlights and pictures from yesterday’s Tea Parties, in which there was over 800 tea parties across the country, with a total turnout estimated to be at around 250,000 people.
Now onto the disgrace that is the left, aka left-wing exteremists. The Weekly Standard has the info on Nancy Pelosi’s “astroturf” crack, and some other house democratics apparently thinking these events were driven by corporate lobbyists and attended by neo-Nazis… Read more
The first ‘official’ tax increase begins today: Obama’s beloved Cigarettes
Obama oves cigarettes as we all know. But in order to pay for his Trojan Horse the S-CHIP, he raised taxes on cigarettes. Hotair says that it will hit working class families the hardest and AP reporter Calvin Woodward is REALLY pissed off about it:
One of President Barack Obama’s campaign pledges on taxes went up in puffs of smoke Wednesday.
The largest increase in tobacco taxes took effect despite Obama’s promise not to raise taxes of any kind on families earning under $250,000 or individuals under $200,000.
This is one tax that disproportionately affects the poor, who are more likely to smoke than the rich.
To be sure, Obama’s tax promises in last year’s campaign were most often made in the context of income taxes. Not always.
“I can make a firm pledge,” he said in Dover, N.H., on Sept. 12. “Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes.”
