“When I talk about shared responsibility, it’s because I genuinely believe that in a time when many folks are struggling and at a time when we have enormous deficits, it’s hard for me to ask seniors on a fixed income or young people with student loans or middle-class families who can barely pay the bills to shoulder the burden alone,” Obama said during the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington.

He continued, “And I think to myself, if I’m willing to give something up as somebody who’s been extraordinarily blessed and give up some of the tax breaks that I enjoy, I actually thinks that’s going to make economic sense.”

“But for me as a Christian, it also coincides with Jesus’ teaching that, ‘for unto whom much is given, much shall be required,’” he said.

When compared with previous annual reports, the latest one shows an almost steady increase in the number of abortions performed at its clinics: In 2006, Planned Parenthood did 289,750 abortions; in 2007, it did 305,310; in 2009, it did 331,796; and, in 2010, it did 329,445–a small decrease from the previous year.

The good news is, now Obama and Bo can make it to Hawaii before Christmas.

Of the 72 signers, 68 are members of the conservative Republican Study Committee, headed by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio)–who did sign the letter.

“Cutting back the national debt will require stronger private sector job growth and less government spending. Raising taxes would just take us further away from both goals,” Jordan said in a statement.

The letter, which was drafted by Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.), simply called on the Supercommittee to avoid raising taxes on Americans.

“Tax increases aren’t going to get our economy back on the right track,” McHenry said.

In the Federal Register of November 8, 2011, Acting Administrator of Agricultural Marketing David R. Shipman announced that the Secretary of Agriculture will appoint a Christmas Tree Promotion Board. The purpose of the Board is to run a “program of promotion, research, evaluation, and information designed to strengthen the Christmas tree industry’s position in the marketplace; maintain and expend existing markets for Christmas trees; and to carry out programs, plans, and projects designed to provide maximum benefits to the Christmas tree industry” (7 CFR 1214.46(n)). And the program of “information” is to include efforts to “enhance the image of Christmas trees and the Christmas tree industry in the United States” (7 CFR 1214.10).

This comes on the heals of 40 RINO House Republicans signing a letter saying they are for “revenue enhancements” aka tax increases.

“I would enact a 50 percent inheritance tax, because nothing is more un-American than an inherited elite that perpetuates itself,” Zakaria wrote for the magazine.

Oh and BTW, in case you forgot, GE still owns about 49% of NBC/Univision too.

CNBC: “Are you happy that the way it is being described. Is the program that the White House has presented a million dollars and over your program? ”

Warren Buffett: “Well, the precise program which will — I don’t know what their program will be. My program would be on the very high incomes that are taxed very low. Not just high incomes. Somebody making $50 million a year playing baseball, his taxes won’t change. Make $50 million a year appearing on television, his income won’t change. But, if they make a lot of money and pay a very low tax rate, like me, it would be changed by a minimum tax that would only bring them up to what other people pay.”

CNBC: “Does that mean you disagree with the president’s new jobs proposal which would be paid for by raising taxes on households with incomes of over $250,000.”

Buffett: “That’s another program that I won’t be discussing. My program is to have a tax on ultra-rich people who are very tax rates. Not just all rich people. It would probably apply to 50,000 people in a population of 300 million.”

I guess dementia is creeping in.

The Dow Jones finished the week at 10,771, the S&P500 at 1,136 and the Nasdaq at 2,463. Thanks a bunch chump Obama. You managed to hurt the middle class’ 401ks once again!

“I personally don’t believe we ought to be raising taxes or cutting spending until we get this economy off the ground,” said Clinton, a former Arkansas governor thought to hail from the moderate wing of the Democratic Party. “If we cut government spending, which I normally would be very inclined to do when the deficit’s this big, with interest rates already near zero you can’t get the benefits out of it.”

Another new fee would increase by one-tenth of a percentage point the fee that mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac charge lenders to guarantee repayment of new mortgage loans.
The administration says the fee increase would add $15 a month to the monthly cost of an average new mortgage. Even without existing mortgages being affected, the fee increase would raise $28 billion over 10 years.
Some of the fees tilt toward the arcane. There’s a plan to save $3 million a year by developing an electronic records system for hazardous waste shipments. Another would produce $7 million more a year by giving the federal government a 50 percent share of receipts from geothermal leases on federal lands instead of 25 percent, with the remainder going to the states.
Another proposal would charge $4 an acre on non-producing oil and gas leases on federal lands, raising $1 billion over a decade. The idea is to prod energy companies to get their leases into production or give them up and allow others to develop them.

That will sure show those evil rich people for making money!

But Geithner argued introducing reforms that increase taxes on the wealthy is the best way to ensure the government can fund necessary programs for the poor and middle class while reducing deficits at the same time.

“If you try to return this country to living within our means, if you try to restore financial soundness to the basic fiscal trajectory of the United States, and you do so without modest changes in revenues, then you’re just adding to the burden of people that have already borne so much of the burden of this crisis,” Geithner said.

The capital gains rate is at about 15% right now. With Obama’s “Buffet Rule” it would basically double, to equal the normal income tax rate an average or “middle” American pays. This should do wonders for business and investing, don’t you think?

A McKeon staffer later said the chairman opposes both options under what his boss views as a “Sophie’s Choice” scenario. The California lawmaker said he never has voted for a tax increase.

McKeon told an audience at an American Enterprise Institute forum that “the military could not sustain” cuts beyond those mandated in the debt deal. That agreement would enforce another $600 billion in cuts on national security agency budgets if a congressional supercommittee fails to reach a deal on $1.2 trillion in federal cuts.

Of that amount, the Pentagon would be on the hook for about “50 percent,” or $300 billion through 2023, McKeon said.

The Obama administration is asking Congress to raise taxes by $467 billion over 10 years to pay for the President’s one-year $447 billion stimulus, which he announced during a speech Thursday before a joint session of Congress.

The president is pushing his jobs and growth package amid declining polls and zero job growth in August. The plan is intended to take effect several months after the 2012 election.
