According to Yahoo, Osama bin Laden released an apparently new audio tape on an Islamist website on Monday (their time), warning the American people over their government’s close ties to Israel. John Adler protested anticipated plans by Gadhafi to stay in the northern New Jersey community of Englewood when he addresses the United Nations General Assembly next month. Pat Roberts threatens to ’shut down the Senate’ over Gitmo detainees
The AP reported Monday that Hussein Obama is examining the Kansas facility as well as a Michigan prison as destination for accused terrorists after they close down the Guantanamo Bay facility. I don’t know how many readers out there are from either Kansas or Michigan, but I wonder what your opinion would be of having these terrorist scum in your state in a “supermax”? Pat Roberts, senator for Kansas isn’t exactly pleased with the idea. According to The Hill:
Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) threatened to “shut down the Senate” before he allows terrorist suspects to be relocated to Leavenworth, Kansas.
Roberts heatedly pledged to prevent detainees currently housed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to be relocated to a prison facility in his home state.
“I’ve said it once. I’ll say it many more times: Not in my back yard. Not in Kansas,” Roberts said in a press conference with Kansas reporters. “I will shut down the Senate before I’ll let that happen.”

Just one in four Americans, or 26% of those polled, now believe the Obama’s polices have made America safer from terrorism. Contrast that with the last poll on big bad evil Dubya back in January that found that 49% believed President Bush’s policies had made the U.S. safer, despite a significantly lower overall job approval ratings of 33.5%
