And here I thought California and Massachusetts were bad with their flaming liberal Senators, but Vermont takes the cake. As if Bernie Sanders isn’t bad enough, check out this gem from Patrick Leahy. According to The Hill, if the U.S. captured Osama bin Laden, there’s no need to interrogate him. And this is coming from the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Senator Patrick Leahy, the chairman of that committee, said that arguments raised by Republican senators about whether bin Laden would be afforded Miranda rights if he were captured amount to a “red herring.” So basically Leahy is turning Osama into politics.

“The red herring that my friend [Sen.] Lindsey Graham [R-S.C.] was covering is not realistic,” Leahy said during an appearance on “Washington Journal” on C-SPAN.

“For one thing, capturing Osama bin Laden — we’ve had enough on him, we don’t need to interrogate him,” Leahy added.

NPR reveals that over two years ago in May of 2007, a top psychiatrist at Walter Reed Army Medical Center was so concerned about what he saw as Nidal Malik Hasan’s incompetence and reckless behavior that he put those concerns in writing. They (NPR) obtained a copy of the memo, which is the first evaluation that has surfaced from Hasan’s file.

On May 17, 2007, Hasan’s supervisor at Walter Reed sent the memo to the Walter Reed credentials committee. It reads, “Memorandum for: Credentials Committee. Subject: CPT Nidal Hasan.” More than a page long, the document warns that: “The Faculty has serious concerns about CPT Hasan’s professionalism and work ethic. … He demonstrates a pattern of poor judgment and a lack of professionalism.” It is signed by the chief of psychiatric residents at Walter Reed, Maj. Scott Moran.

When shown the memo, two leading psychiatrists said it was so damning, it might have sunk Hasan’s career if he had applied for a job outside the Army.

“Even if we were desperate for a psychiatrist, we would not even get him to the point where we would invite him for an interview,” says Dr. Steven Sharfstein, who runs Sheppard Pratt’s psychiatric medical center, based just outside Baltimore.

Sharfstein says it’s a little hard to read the evaluation now and pretend that he doesn’t know that Hasan is accused of shooting dozens of people. But he says if he had seen a memo like this about an applicant, Sharfstein would have avoided him like the plague.

The memo ticks off numerous problems over the course of Hasan’s training, including proselytizing to his patients. It says he mistreated a homicidal patient and allowed her to escape from the emergency room, and that he blew off an important exam.

According to the memo, Hasan hardly did any work: He saw only 30 patients in 38 weeks. Sources at Walter Reed say most psychiatrists see at least 10 times that many patients. When Hasan was supposed to be on call for emergencies, he didn’t even answer the phone.

In a meeting with the press in China, President Obama said that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed would be “convicted” and had “the death penalty applied to him” . . . and then said he wasn’t “pre-judging” the case. He made the second statement after it was pointed out to him — by NBC’s Chuck Todd — that the first statement would be taken as the president’s interfering in the trial process. Obama said that wasn’t his intention. I’m sure it wasn’t — he’s trying to contain the political damage caused by his decision — but that won’t matter. He has given the defense its first motion that the executive branch, indeed the president himself, is tainting the jury pool. Nice work.

Obama/White House won’t provide witnesses for Fort Hood hearing

I don’t know wtf kind of game Obama and his cronies are playing but yet again I will say this. This is completely mind boggling. Soldiers who were there aren’t going to be allowed to testify at the first public congressional hearing on the Fort Hood Jihad because the Obama administration “declined to provide any” such witnesses, according to a Senate committee source (via The Washington Post). The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee has released the witness list for its hearing “The Fort Hood Attack: A Preliminary Assessment,” scheduled for Thursday at 10 a.m. EST. This list includes four experts on terrorism and intelligence issues such as retired Gen. Jack Keane, the former U.S. Army vice chief of staff; Brian Jenkins, a senior advisor at the Rand Corp.; Mitchell Silber, the director of analysis for the New York City Police Department’s Intelligence Division; and Juan Zarate, a senior advisor for the Transnational Threats Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

But the list does not include anyone actively involved in investigating the Fort Hood attack, or anyone who might have been responsible for decisions made by various government agencies before the attack about whether to investigate the shooting suspect, Nidal Hasan. The Senate committee source said HSGAC Chairman Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) had hoped to have witnesses from the FBI and the U.S. Army, but was rebuffed in his requests.

Asked for comment Monday, White House spokesman Tommy Vietor said: “Tomorrow morning, an inter-agency briefing team will go to the Hill to brief House and Senate leaders and committee chairs and ranking members. This is the latest in a series of engagements with the Hill since the horrific events at Fort Hood, and further evidence of the Administration’s commitment to appropriately inform Congress without interfering in the prosecution of this case.”

Vietor did not address the specific question of why witnesses would not be provided for Thursday’s hearing.

President Obama has already ordered a federal review of the circumstances that led up to the Fort Hood attack, and how government agencies handled intelligence related to Hasan. But in his weekly radio and Internet address Saturday, Obama urged caution on Capitol Hill.

“I know there will also be inquiries by Congress, and there should,” Obama said. “But all of us should resist the temptation to turn this tragic event into the political theater that sometimes dominates the discussion here in Washington. The stakes are far too high.”

Hasan, the accused Fort Hood gunman, is paralyzed from the waist down, his lawyer said Friday.

“It appears he won’t be able to walk in the future,” said Hasan’s civilian attorney, retired Army Col. John Galligan.

Hasan also has severe pain in his hands, the attorney said.

Authorities say Hasan, a U.S. Army psychiatrist, opened fire at a military processing center at Fort Hood on November 5, killing 13 people. Two civilian officers engaged Hasan, wounding him. One officer was wounded.

Army officials announced Thursday that Hasan is charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder, making him eligible for the death penalty.

Galligan said he spent an hour Thursday with Hasan at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, where he is being treated. A family member whom he did not identify was also present during the hourlong meeting.

As investigators explore what may have led to the shooting rampage, the U.S. State Department’s top counterterrorism official said Thursday there appears to be no operational link between Hasan and any outside group, citing investigators who looked into Hasan’s communications with a radical Islamic cleric.

Also, under the Fifth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution:

Mr. Mohammed and the other “alleged” terrorists will have the right to a speedy trial, the right to publicly paid counsel, the right to immediate access to all government evidence – – including the most sensitive intelligent files – – that can be used against him, the right to remain silent, the right to obtain witnesses in his favor, the right of protection against self incrimination, and the right to participate in jury selection.

9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four other Gitmo detainees will be sent to of all places New York to face trial in a civilian federal court, an Obama administration official told the Associated Press. Eric Holder claims we are charging them witht he most serious offensives “WE FIND APPROPRIATE”. Obama’s muslim faith is yet again on full display! Senator James Webb (Democrat) isn’t exactly thrilled with the idea either.

Self-proclaimed Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four other Guantanamo Bay detainees will be sent to New York to face trial in a civilian federal court, an Obama administration official said Friday.

The official said Attorney General Eric Holder plans to announce the decision later in the morning.

The official is not authorized to discuss the decision before the announcement, so spoke on condition of anonymity.

Bringing such notorious suspects to U.S. soil to face trial is a key step in President Barack Obama’s plan to close the terror suspect detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Obama initially planned to close the detention center by Jan. 22, but the administration is no longer expected to meet that deadline.

It is also a major legal and political test of Obama’s overall approach to terrorism. If the case suffers legal setbacks, the administration will face second-guessing from those who never wanted it in a civilian courtroom. And if lawmakers get upset about notorious terrorists being brought to their home regions, they may fight back against other parts of Obama’s agenda.

The New York case may also force the court system to confront a host of difficult legal issues surrounding counter-terrorism programs begun after the 2001 attacks, including the harsh interrogation techniques once used on some of the suspects while in CIA custody. The most severe method — waterboarding, or simulated drowning — was used on Mohammed 183 times in 2003, before the practice was banned.

Anyway, the excuse they use for the “gunman” Hasan is that Hasan snapped after being dumped by a lover, The ENQUIRER has learned exclusively. Was his love some muslim terrorist as well? Maybe that explains his trips to the strip clubs. Oh wait, aren’t muslims forbidden from going to strip clubs?

Authorities say Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan – an American-born Muslim of Palestinian descent – became deeply disturbed over his imminent deployment to Afghanistan. But his final decline into madness was triggered by his miserable failure at romance.

While the investigation is being kept under tight wraps, a top government source, close to the case, told The ENQUIRER: “There’s evidence he was dumped by a lover.”

The ENQUIRER has also learned the 39-year-old Army psychiatrist had a deep-seated inability to deal with women that stemmed all the way back to high school – and he may have had homosexual relationships.

“Hasan had someone he was seeing – a woman or even a man – or may have imagined the love affair,” disclosed the government source. “It’s quite possible the object of his affection had no idea they were Hasan’s love interest.

“What’s clear is that Hasan felt he was dumped by this person, giving him another reason for unleashing his mass assault. In his sick mind, Hasan may have believed that one of these innocent men he gunned down stole away his lover.”

The New York Times reported that Hasan told his cousins that he planned to marry “sometime this year” – but he was not known to have ever had a girlfriend, say relatives.

Before being transferred by the Army to the Fort Hood military base in Texas four months ago, Hasan spent six years doing his medical training and working at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

The lifelong bachelor frequented a local mosque and signed up for a Muslim matchmaking service. “His first choice was an Arab woman,” said former Imam Faizul Khan, who disclosed that Hasan didn’t like any of the women available through the service.

At Walter Reed, the major refused to be photographed with women at some work-related events despite frequenting a strip club as NationalEnquirer.com reported EARLIER.

Imam Mohamed Abdullahi, who runs the Muslim Community Center in Silver Spring, Md., where the psychiatrist attended prayer services, told The ENQUIRER Hasan may have been confused about his sexuality.

“Maybe he is a homosexual. He was clearly very troubled. In the Koran, there was a messenger
who was a homosexual, and God destroyed him.”

Jihadist Hasan charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder

Jihadist Nidal Hasan, has been charged with premeditated murder in the deaths of 12 soldiers and a civilian and could face other charges, an Army official said Thursday, according to the Washington Post. Christopher Grey, a spokesman for the Army’s Criminal Investigation Division says Hasan “has been charged with 13 specifications of premeditated murder under Article 118 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.” He told a news conference that “additional charges may be preferred in the future.”

Article 118 covers premeditated murder, for which the maximum penalty under the military justice system is death and the mandatory minimum is life imprisonment with eligibility for parole.

Grey described the murder charges as “the first step in the court martial process” and emphasized that a multi-agency investigation of the Nov. 5 shooting continues. He indicated that investigators have not yet settled on a motive for the massacre.

“We’re looking at every reason for this shooting,” he said. “We’re aggressively following every possible lead.”

Grey added: “We still believe that there was only one gunman at the scene involved in the actual shootings.” The statement left open the possibility that someone else instigated the attack. Investigators have been examining Hasan’s relationship with a radical Muslim prayer leader who formerly served at a Northern Virginia mosque that Hasan attended for a time in 2001. Hasan, who was born in Arlington, Va., lived in the Washington area while he was attending medical school in Bethesda, Md., and subsequently while he was working at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in the District.

The White House, meanwhile, said President Obama has ordered a review of how U.S. intelligence agencies handled information about Hasan and asked that preliminary results be provided by Nov. 30. CAIR speaker to Muslims: Its OK to attack Fort Bragg

A Council on American-Islamic Relations adviser and regular speaker at its events has suggested Islamic law permits Muslims to attack C-130 military transport planes carrying the 82nd Airborne out of Fort Bragg, N.C., according to a stunning new book exposing Washington-based CAIR’s inner workings, according to World Net Daily. Radical Islamic cleric Zaid Shakir, who speaks at CAIR events frequently, tells his Muslim audiences: “Jihad is physically fighting the enemies of Islam to protect and advance the religion of Islam. This is jihad.”

Acceptable targets of jihad, he says, include U.S. military aircraft.

“Islam doesn’t permit us to hijack airplanes filled with civilian people,” Shakir once told a Muslim audience. However, “If you hijack an airplane filled with the 82nd Airborne, that’s something else.”

The 82nd Airborne Division’s elite paratroopers fly out of Fort Bragg, N.C., which is part of North Carolina state Sen. Larry Shaw’s district. Shaw is CAIR’s new chairman.
he recording of the lecture, which Shakir gave earlier this decade to a Muslim audience in the San Francisco Bay area, was obtained by the authors of the bestselling “Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld That’s Conspiring to Islamize America.”

The bombshell revelation comes in the wake of the worst military massacre at a domestic U.S. military base in American history, and the worst Islamic terrorist attack on U.S. soil since 9/11.

Last week, Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan allegedly gunned down in cold blood more than 50 of his fellow soldiers preparing to deploy to Iraq and Afghanistan from Fort Hood, Texas. Eyewitnesses say before opening fire, Hasan jumped up on a desk and screamed, “Allahu akbar!” like the 9/11 hijackers. The suspect fatally shot 13, including a security guard. The death toll is actually 14 when a slain unborn child is counted.

Imam Shakir also gives his blessing to the use of bombs as a weapon of jihad, as long as the explosives hit “select” targets and are not indiscriminate in their destruction. Civilians can be a legitimate target, he says, if “there’s a benefit in that,” according to “Muslim Mafia,” co-authored by former federal agent P. David Gaubatz and investigative journalist Paul Sperry, author of “Infiltration.”

Even “old elderly men” and “women who are conscripted” – including Israeli and American women in uniform – are eligible enemy combatants in jihad. “This is Shariah,” Shakir asserts in a CD recording of one of his lectures in 2001, which the authors obtained from a radical mosque bookstore in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Shakir, a black convert, has been portrayed as a moderate in the mainstream media, including the New York Times, which recently ran a positive profile of him. His pro-jihad statements revealed in “Muslim Mafia” have not been previously reported. CAIR has sued and obtained a temporary restraining order to censor the book’s documentary evidence detailing CAIR’s support of terrorism and obstruction of FBI investigations.

Longtime CAIR advisory board member and chief fundraiser Siraj Wahhaj echoes his friend Shakir’s interpretation of jihad.

“If we go to war, brothers and sisters – and one day we will, believe me – that’s why you’re commanded [to fight in] jihad,” the imam has told his flock in Brooklyn. “When Allah demands us to fight, we’re not stopping and nobody’s stopping us.”

Nidal Hasan may have wired money to Pakistan

I know, I know, as Obama says wait till we have “all the facts”. Well, MORE facts are pouring in on a daily basis. The latest is that Hasan may have wired money to Pakistan, oh wait, isn’t it Polk-EE-Stahn now? According to the Dallas Morning News, authorities have been examining whether Fort Hood massacre suspect Nidal Malik Hasan wired money to Pakistan in recent months, an action that one senior lawmaker said would raise serious questions about Hasan’s possible connections to militant Islamic groups.

Rep. Pete Hoekstra, R-Mich., said sources “outside of the [intelligence] community” learned about Hasan’s possible connections to the Asian country, which faces a massive Islamist insurgency and is widely believed to be Osama bin Laden’s hiding place.

Hoekstra, the ranking Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, would not identify the sources. But he said “they are trying to follow up on it because they recognize that if there are communications – phone or money transfers with somebody in Pakistan – it just raises a whole other level of questions.”

Much remains unknown about the 39-year-old Hasan, born in Virginia to Palestinian immigrants. He lived alone near the Army base in Killeen, Texas, and would sometimes use a neighbor’s computer even though he had his own.

“With what I know about Hasan to date … I would expect we will learn more about him that will make us concerned,” Hoekstra said, “rather than information that says, ‘Oh man, we got that all wrong and this had nothing to do with terrorism.’ “

Hasan did not formally seek to leave military, Army official says

Being that jihadist Nidal Malik Hasan was so “stressed” and simply just “snapped” from all the pressure as Obama says, or had PTSD, despite NEVER leaving the army base to fight in a war, one would think if the muslim nutjob was simply too stressed to do his job and would formally seek to leave the ‘evil’ military killing his beloved muslim brothers. No instead he stayed with all those Obama/Media excuses and committed his jihad killing 14 people (well, 13 people, plus a baby on the way from one of them). According to a Washington Post, Hasan never did not formally seek to leave the military as a conscientious objector or for any other reason, an Army official said, despite claims by one of his relatives that he explored seeking a discharge.

It is unclear whether Maj. Nidal M. Hasan made informal efforts to leave through contacts with his immediate superiors, and if so how his chain of command at lower levels might have responded to such efforts.

But any formal request by Hasan to separate early would have been submitted to the Department of the Army, according to the official, who saw Hasan’s file before it was recently sealed by Army investigators. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the case publicly.

In 2007, addressing other physicians at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Hasan said that to avoid “adverse events” the military should allow Muslim soldiers to be released as conscientious objectors instead of fighting in wars against other Muslims. At the time of the shooting, Hasan was about to be deployed to Afghanistan, officials have said.

Even if Hasan had sought to quit the Army over his opposition to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, as his aunt has said he did, the Army almost certainly would have denied any such request, senior Army officials said. Hasan had a continuing obligation because the Army had provided him with medical training.

In a further indication Hasan was not actively seeking formal discharge, he underwent an Army promotion board in the spring of 2008 that called his performance as an officer as patriotic and elevated him from the rank of captain to major, a promotion that took place in May 2009, according to the official.

And yet again I will ask Obama, how many more details do you need on jihadist Nidal Hasan? According to NPR, starting in the spring of 2008, key officials from Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences held a series of meetings and conversations, in part about Nidal Hasan. One of the questions they pondered: Was Hasan psychotic? As more and more info leaks out on this terrorist scum, it becomes more and more apparent that this BS of political correctness has gone overboard.

“Put it this way,” says one official familiar with the conversations that took place. “Everybody felt that if you were deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan, you would not want Nidal Hasan in your foxhole.”

In documents reviewed by NPR and conversations with medical officials at Walter Reed and USUHS, new details have emerged regarding serious concerns that officials raised about Hasan during his time at both institutions.

Hasan spent six years as a psychiatrist at Walter Reed, beginning in 2003, and he had a fellowship at USUHS until shortly before he went to Fort Hood in the summer of 2009. A committee of officials from both places regularly meets once a month to discuss pressing topics surrounding the psychiatrists and other mental health professionals who train and work at the institutions.

NPR spoke with military psychiatrists and officials who worked closely with Hasan, as well as those who monitored the committee and/or student and faculty matters. None would allow their names to be used, because of the criminal investigation into the Fort Hood shootings.

Deeply Troubling, Schizoid Behavior

When a group of key officials gathered in the spring of 2008 for their monthly meeting in a Bethesda, Md., office, one of the leading — and most perplexing — items on their agenda was: What should we do about Hasan?

Hasan had been a trouble spot on officials’ radar since he started training at Walter Reed, six years earlier. Several officials confirm that supervisors had repeatedly given him poor evaluations and warned him that he was doing substandard work.

Both fellow students and faculty were deeply troubled by Hasan’s behavior — which they variously called disconnected, aloof, paranoid, belligerent, and schizoid. The officials say he antagonized some students and faculty by espousing what they perceived to be extremist Islamic views. His supervisors at Walter Reed had even reprimanded him for telling at least one patient that “Islam can save your soul.”

Participants in the spring meeting and in subsequent conversations about Hasan reportedly included John Bradley, chief of psychiatry at Walter Reed; Robert Ursano, chairman of the Psychiatry Department at USUHS; Charles Engel, assistant chair of the Psychiatry Department and director of Hasan’s psychiatry fellowship; Dr. David Benedek, another assistant chairman of psychiatry at USUHS; psychiatrist Carroll J. Diebold; and Scott Moran, director of the psychiatric residency program at Walter Reed, according to colleagues and other sources who monitor the meetings.

NPR tried to contact all these officials and the public affairs officers at the institutions. They either didn’t return phone calls or said they could not comment.

But psychiatrists and officials who are familiar with the conversations, which continued into the spring of 2009, say they took a remarkable turn: Is it possible, some mused, that Hasan was mentally unstable and unfit to be an Army psychiatrist?

One official involved in the conversations had reportedly told colleagues that he worried that if Hasan deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan, he might leak secret military information to Islamic extremists. Another official reportedly wondered aloud to colleagues whether Hasan might be capable of committing fratricide, like the Muslim U.S. Army sergeant who, in 2003, killed two fellow soldiers and injured 14 others by setting off grenades at a base in Kuwait.

Any more evidence needed that muslim terrorist and jihadist Nidal Malik Hasan should have been dragged out of the military from his “privates” years ago? Or should we for more details as Obama claimed and “not jump to conclusions”? Obama was so “outraged” when Tiller the Baby Killer was killed, yet hasn’t once mentioned how outraged he his since this muslim killed 13 Americans in an act of terrorism. According to ABC, A senior government official says that investigators have found that alleged Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan had “more unexplained connections to people being tracked by the FBI” than just radical cleric Anwar al Awlaki. The official declined to name the individuals but Congressional sources said their names and countries of origin were likely to emerge soon.

Questions already surround Major Hasan’s contact with Awlaki, a radical cleric based in Yemen whom authorities consider a recruiter for al Qaeda. U.S. officials now confirm Hasan sent as many as 20 e-mails to Awlaki. Authorities intercepted the e-mails but later deemed them innocent or protected by the first amendment.

The FBI said it turned over the information to the Army, but Defense Department officials today denied that. One military investigator on a joint terror task force with the FBI was shown the e-mails, but they were never forwarded in a formal way to more senior officials at the Pentagon, and the Army did not learn of the contacts until after the shootings.

In Texas, an hour before a memorial service for the Fort Hood victims, four FBI agents showed up at the Killeen mosque where Hasan prayed and searched a trash bin outside. The mosque president was clearly upset when he had to return from traveling to the service to sign a document handed to him by agents, apparently authorizing the search.

The FBI would not comment on what the agents were looking for at the mosque a full five days after the shooting, but motivation remains the focus.

“Obviously, the key is did he act alone,” former senior FBI official Brad Garrett told ABC News. “And secondarily is, what evidence might potentially be in the dumpsters or at the mosque.”

“We’re concerned any time a house of worship is searched in this fashion,” said Ibrahim Hooper, national communications director for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Washington, D.C.-based civil rights group. “And we would follow up to see if there was probable cause for the search and if it was carried out in the appropriate and legal manner.”

Agents had already seized Hasan’s computer in a search of this apartment last Thursday night, and all of his internet contacts and writings are under examination.

The Washington Post reported Tuesday that Hasan gave a PowerPoint presentation to fellow Army doctors in 2007 in which he said, “It’s getting harder and harder for Muslims in the service to morally justify being in a military that seems constantly engaged against fellow Muslims.” He recommended that Muslim soldiers be given the option of being released from the military as conscientious objectors to decrease what he called “adverse events.” Under “comments,” he wrote, “We love death more than you love life.”

Malvo, who was 17 at the time of the D.C. area killings, is serving out multiple life sentences for his role in six of the D.C. area killings.

Lamar Alexander has told radio station WOAI (and their web site) FBI Director Robert Mueller says the bureau is investigating whether a radical Islamic imam in Yemen Anwar al-Awlaki ‘had been encouraging’ Fort Hood gunman, jihadist, and terrorist (Yes I said it, TERRORIST) Nidal Hasan to commit violent acts against U.S. soldiers.

“They had no real early warnings,” U.S. Rep Lamar Smith (R-Tx), who is the ranking Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, reported Mueller as telling him earlier today. Smith spoke with 1200 WOAI’s Michael Board. “He said they had some of the intelligence that we have heard about, the connection to the radical, but because the individual in question seemed to be a major in good standing, they didn’t pursue it as much as they might have.”

Awlaki wrote on his blog Monday that Hasan ‘is a hero’ and a ‘man of conscience.’ Awlaki has been identified as the imam at a mosque in Falls Church Virginia, where Hasan and his family occasionally worshipped.

“I have been told that the individual who had been perhaps even encouraging the major in these violent acts, had previously had contact with three of the terrorists that were involved in the 9/11 attacks, so this may be a widening story, and the major may well have been in touch with those who were known terrorists, and if that is the case, this really opens up this situation to the fact that we need to be very very careful in the future, and we need to perhaps pay more attention to any red flags that may come to our attention.”

Smith said he is worried about the FBI and other agencies ‘covering up’ any ties between Hasan and ‘radical Islam.’

“In the future, when that comes to our attention, we shouldn’t try to diminish it or play it down,” he said.

Smith said the U.S. needs to make sure its ‘intelligence capability is not compromised,’ and we need to be willing to make sure the U.S. ‘intelligence activity is not compromised, whether they live in this country or not, whether they are citizens or not.’

“When we get the intelligence, we need to act on it, make sure we don’t succumb to political correctness and not be afraid to confront somebody. That surely should have been done in this case.”

“Initially, we thought he was acting totally on his own, and I think he was acting on his own as far as the violence goes. But on the other hand, he may have been encouraged by this radical cleric, who we find out now has ties to three of the 9/11 terrorists. It gets worse and worse and the circle keeps widening broader and broader. We now have a real life example of home grown terrorism, meaning a citizen, who has raised in our country, who has not become radicalized, and we need to watch out more and more for these kind of situations.”

Jake Tapper in his ABC interview with Obama asked him about the Fort Hood muslim jihadist Nadil Malik Hasan, asking him what separates an act of violence from an act of terrorism?

Obama, in his usual defending of muslims and blaming the U.S. for everything, especially had the military had the nerve to say the following:

OBAMA: Well, look, we — we have seen, in the past, rampages of this sort. And in a country of 300 million people, there are going to be acts of violence that are inexplicable. Even within the extraordinary military that we have — and I think everybody understands how outstanding the young men and women in uniform are under the most severe stress — there are going to be instances in which an individual cracks. I think the questions that we’re asking now and we don’t have yet complete answers to is, is this an individual who’s acting in this way or is it some larger set of actors? You know, what are the motivations? Those are all questions that I think we have to ask ourselves. Until we have these answers buttoned down, I’d rather not comment on it.
