South Carolina’s Republican primary – January 21, 2012

About a week before the Janurary 21st, 2012 South Carolina primary Mitt Romney had a double digit leads on his competitors. Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, and Ron Paul were all thinking about fighting for who gets second place. Jon Huntsman and Rick Perry had polling at about 5% a week before the primary and decided to drop out of the race. Huntsman endorsed Mitt Romney, while Rick Perry endorsed Newt Gingrich. Then Gingrich caught lightning in a bottle. Two debates were held the week leading up to the primary. One on Fox News, the other on CNN. The Fox News debate was held on Martin Luther King Jr. Day (1/16/12). One of Fox News’ left wing hacks Juan Williams tried to play the race against Gingrich for his repeatedly calling Obama the “Food Stamp President.” Gingrich completely crushed the race baiter Juan Williams receiving a rare standing ovation from the crowd. Williams continued to whine the entire week on various Fox News programs after getting destroyed.
